Morning all.

I am next planning to purchase a tripod and flash for my camera. I'm not a pro just a new camera user so the top end stuff is out of my budget for now.

I have £200-£250 and just wanted to know what you experienced folk would suggest I invest in with that.

I mainly take pictures of my two young children and want to get into landscape and macro going forward.

What flash n tripod would you suggest for a newbie like me?

as for tripod i use a Giottos MTL9351B and for me it ticks all the boxes, well within your budget, flash wise i'm not familiar with cannon flashes but for a budget flash jessops 360afd is about £70 and works well

Thank you billybob.

I had been considering this tripod Red Snapper RS-284 & RSH-12 Ball Head for £109, and had looked at the jessops flash. This would leave me some cash spare for other goodies.

REDSNAPPER tripods get my vote, very well built and built to last and at a great price, i have the tri-283 with ballhead and never had any problems with it, and can hold some weight too, comes with padded shoulder bag and 2 x center section (long/short) I also have a redsnapper monopod with ball head which is awesome. Joe who runs redsnapper is a top bloke too and very helpful he gives us tp'ers a 10% discount.

Redsnapper are highly recommended on here

I didn't know that so say thank you for the information. how does one apply for it?

I would go with the Giottos MTL9361B and a Canon 430 EXII from Amazon, It will cost a bit more but is a good investment.

I find that buying cheep costs you more, Because quality is usualy not the best and you end up having to buying better quality gear.

To be honest I would spend it all on a good tripod and head then add a flash later

Could be the case you compromise with both which will cost you more in the long run

I thought the red snapper ones were a good make!

Plus my budget is £200-£250. That flash alone is £280+. For me as a complete novice doing it as a hobby that's a lot of cash for a flash.

I'm not saying its bad just that there is better quality tripods to be had, But the red snapper very good for the price and any tripod is better than none. I would go for it :)

If the canon 430EX II £206 on Amazon is out of your budget and your purley just want good budget flash maybe you should look at a third party one like the Sunpak PZ42X for around £100

Yongnuo 560 and rf 603 for off camera stuff, the item number for the flash on eBay: 160737437784

That comes to only about £80 then you have about £150 to spend on a decent tripod.

Cheers but not really a fan of eBay and especially when it's outside the UK.

It's from the people that make it and mostly good feedback, loads of people are happy with it and it's the version two so hasnt got the problems that the first one had.

Ive had my REDSNAPPER 283 & BALLHEAD 4 years now and never once have i had any trouble with it, just like anything really, you look after them and they will last for years, ive had a 40d GRIPPED with sigma 150-500 on mine and it coped with it no probs, you even get a nice hook on the longer extension to hang your bag on if more weight would be needed.

Andy77 looking online and other forums the red snapper gets great reviews so I will be ordering one of those when I have spoken with them.

You wont regret it,mine has and is still serving me very well
