What to take photos of?

Basically i am getting bored just sitting about, i need to get out there again with the camera and start using it for what it is meant for. So i am asking you guys to give me some ideas to which areas i should focus on? Landscapes/Studio etc.....

I am not sure if i want to buy a grip for my camera or buy a bigger camera, i am not sure yet, just the grips seems a bit akward when i have held it before, just didn't fit right in to my hand.

I dont believe ANYONE can answer your question... Photograph what you enjoy.. whatever makes you feel good... There is no one on TP who knows the answer to that accept you

if your new to the whole photography scene (as i am, i started a year ago) have a good long think about what you enjoy doing, walking, playing sports, watching circuit racing, admiring views from the top of a mountain.

try those things, but not participating like you enjoy, but with camera in hand!! i have found (and some may disagree) that if i enjoy doing something, i enjoy photographing it more, i love playing/watching rugby, i loved the 1 match i have shot and really want to do more. i love rallying, both competing and watching, i love photographing it. i don't particularly enjoy the whole 'just walking' in mountains with friends, i didn't enjoy the landscape stuff i've done as much as say, shotting sport or dogs in the field (working dogs)

as kipax has said though, you need to answer your question, hopefully my thoughts will be helpfull in making you realise what your answer is, if that makes any sense...maybe the Tamiflu is deluding me!

Food! Fruit is good practice, can be quite difficult to get the light right.
 
landscape - gives you fresh air and gets you walking so you have fun taking pictures and exercise as well ;)

Photography is not about looking, but seeing.

How about a study of your town. It's fascinating to see how it changes over the years/decades.

I recommend the woods always something in them to take pictures of be quite though so you don't scare the animals off.
 
go for whatever gives u a buzz...no point doing landscapes if you want to shoot rugby and sexy women...there are some fabulous abstract examples on this site....liquid drops and bubbles all sorts of things...go for what you enjoy

let your eyes do the walking
when you see something that rings the bell...get the camera out..and shoot it to death

just now i would make a feature of the weather and the greenery...dull light can be the subject of your shot...
on the landscape front...landscapes are powerful when lit by the welcoming return of a ray of sun or two...it has to be raining and dull to get that...

i do sympathise though...its all very well to talk...and my camera is in the drawer

If you are struggling, why not pick a theme?

Only shoot things begining with A, B, or C day? (there's nearly a month's work there straight away!)

Red day, Green day, Blue day?

Wide angle day, Macro day, Telephoto Day?

Join a club and shoot for their next competiton theme?

Look through the mags and shoot for their next theme?

Only shoot subjects that you have never shot before?

Do you need any other suggestions?
 
Anyone want to sign up for a modeling shoot? Ladies?

you are concentrating on the camera too much...its just a piece of metal and glass between you and your concepts...dont let it dominate the field of 'view'

oh if only - but sadly i can't drive!

but you could sign up to the following sites to get some models.
TFP models,- - anybody can sign up to this one, you can basically log in straight away.

i am getting on pretty well with sloth
 
Ive done a bit of macro...and still do...love my Raynox...

Just want too try a few different things...you never know I could be good at one of them...!!!

I am in the middle (and to be honest have been in there for quite a while)...of building an extension...it will be used a bit multi purpose...one purpose being a studio...just got to get my finger out my poppet...and get working on it again...

Hoping Santa will be bringing me a studio light or two...!!!

Thinking of using this if I could organise a model in the new year...it would be good to shoot as a pair if I got another interested party...2 x 1hr slots (1 hr each) for £15 each...just gets you shooting with decent equipment for a little bit of money...gives you the feel fr how someone else attacks the same setup as well...

But that for the new year...

Just make sure that when you do choose a subject you approach it as a proper photography subject - ie look at interestingness (whats unusual and eye catching about the thing you have spotted), composition (rule of thirds etc etc), lighting etc etc

If you just think "what shall i point the camera at next and push the button", you aren't going to keep your interest very long....

Or maybe thats just me...
