What to sign photography prints with?

I'm looking for something to sign prints with on Epson Semi Gloss. At the moment I've found that Sakura Pigma Micron fineliners work and don't smudge on the front of the photo. But on the back of the print it does smudge. I'd sign the back with a 4B pencil.

What alternatives is there?

As Andy says above - I've been using these for years and nothing beats them if you want quick-drying. They're not cheap at a tenner apiece (they've gone up a lot since I got may last one), like most things that are in more of a 'niche' market. Worth it though IMO. :cool:

I think the price is due to it coming from the USA but I did find in my search that there are some EU suppliers where €2.50 was the price and one might hope that with postage it would be less than the Amazon price???

FWIW I have been using Stabilo Write4all pens and though very good the do rub/smear on the reverse side of some papers :(

I might get one of the Zig pens to try but not at approx £10 a pop!
 
Nah I don't want to spend a tenner on a pen that may or may not smudge.

I've found a few places in the EU, but they're either out of stock or they don't ship to the UK.

I emailed them and asked if they would work on the paper. They said yes. I began ordering it, but I've sent another email saying I cannot select West Yorkshire, and suggested for them to change 'State' to County and list all of the UK's Counties. All it provides are random names of towns, cities, and a few counties.
 
Is just "Yorkshire" an option? If so, I'd think that the post code would be enough to distinguish between the assorted sub divisions.

It looks like 'state' isn't required - no asterisk beside that box. Try leaving it blank.

I decided to buy one of these pens around Black Friday. It's just arrived and it doesn't smudge on the front of the semi gloss paper I use (y)
 
Just a question but why would you want to sign an image - something like that would put me off buying it

I think it’s to show the provenance of the work and that they are happy enough with the print to put their name on it.

It’s quite common practice in the fine art world, I have a number of signed prints from various photographers in my small collection.
