What to shoot when the weather is pants

As the weather always seems to be bad on my days off what do you shoot if the weather is bad
 
try indoor still life, using a window to light. If it's just overcast, you could always try some waterfalls or slow exposures on rivers, etc..
 
The weather was poor yesterday, although it was still better than it had been for a while. I went for a walk and took my camera 'just in case'.
I saw a stoat, deer, hare, buzzards and lots of other birds too. I didn't get any good shots at all, but was glad to have seen what I did and really enjoyed my day.
I am learning to accept that in Scotland, not every day is a photo day! :lol::lol:
 
I've not seen your work, but learned this lesson when I first moved to Scotland!!!
 
im in the same situation, it was dull till it went foggy, woke up to snow this morning!!
 
Same as you shoot on sunny days :thinking:

would be scared to take mine out in the rain, be just my luck to fall in a puddle :(

The last pic was taken with a Canon 30D, and when I got home I noticed the rear screen flickering even when the camera was turned off, and water coming out of the body. A week in the airing cupboard and all is fine now still working more than 2 years later.

Was I lucky YES, are camera more robust than we imagine YES :clap:

Delete this post when I come to sell the 30D
 
Indoor still life or moody drizzly black and whites of unhappy looking people in the rain. Or none and spend the day staring with irritation out of the window :) I mainly do the latter...
 
haha, gadget show did a ting about water, and heat was the best thing

The 30D is remarkably water and dirt proof.

I remember doing a day that was the worst day I've ever been out in - torrential rain all day, mud like a WW1 battlefield - everything soaked and muddy but only a few Err99's towards the end of the day, cured with a switch off and on again.

This is how bad it was:

Also there is no point in spending £££ on a camera that has good weather sealing (or ££££ if it's a top of the range body) and then only using it in "good" weather. :shake:

Bet I get my little ole A55 out an about then.... (as he looks outside at the weather) :$

I took some shots in Paris last weekend and it was cloudy and a bit rainy for the entire time, but I hadn't realised just how miserable everything looked until I got back home and had a rake through on my computer.

Make the most of a lack of colour and see what you can capture in black and white. The rain is good for setting up some nice reflection shots at least, which Musicman neatly demonstrates :)
 
If the weather is pants then why not shoot it?

I love moody weather as it has such an effect and normally boring subject in daylight can be transformed with just the change of the weather.
