I'm very new to making my own sandwiches in the morning, what should I put in them? I've heard great things about cheese and marmite but thought maybe a fried egg would be better

any suggestion appreciated

Mature Cheddar Cheese and home made Chilli Chutney - I'm addicted.

How are we meant to know what you like?

Neither of youre suggestions are brilliant in my opinion

Cooked chicken for me....unless of course your one of them :suspect:

double decker (all hot, and with ketchup)

One deck: egg and bacon
the other deck: sausage and onion

I wouldnt have them too often though...

chedder and red leister (sorry about spelling!) cheese grated,
mixed with finely chopped and cooked leeks and add mayo
then add chicken

tastes like a chicken kiev :) mmmmmm

Have you thought about which bag you'll be buying to carry them about in? I've got one of the new lowepros and I find it excellent for carrying sandwiches....

On a serious note, crispy bacon, pan fried chicken and mushrooms, and melted stilton....not very healthy, but mmmmm!!

That's ridiculous.....that will offer no protection whatsoever!! You'll struggle making an insurance claim if you told them you'd had your sandwiches in your pocket....

.....what were you thinking???!!! :cuckoo:

I might be ... but I'm not telling

if you are...

fresh mozzarella, basil leaves, beef and/or sundried tomatoes, maybe some black olives, and a few dabs of pesto.

scrambled egg (put a big knob of butter in the pan when you cook it), mature cheddar, tomato, couple of baby spinach leaves, kinda eggs benedict thing going on.

Cream cheese, celery, walnuts... + smoked salmon if that's your thing...

grated cheese & carrot, and ready salted crisps also works pretty well for something less gourmet ;)

Egg mayonnaise is always a good stand by. It's also good for sharing a while after you've eaten.

Hmmm
Cheese n Onion *smelly* lol
Egg Mayo - Egg n Cress *smelly*
BLT - crispy bacon - lettuce - thin tomatoes *nom nom*
Chicken n Mayo (with or without salad)
Beef n Mustard *nom nom*
Or
Peanut butter
Marmite *hmmmm*
Jam ...
Paste .. crab-fish etc ....

There are some good options here but make sure you don't use a glass filter as you will lose a tiny bit of the taste of each mouthful

Update - Went with bacon (so I'm not one of those) sun dried toms green olives and melted cheese.

I managed to get a nice weather sealed bag too

Now my only problem is what lens to put on the front of my camera, but at least I got some fantastic sarnies.

cheers

A dollop of Ambrosia Creamed Rice with a sprinkle of sliced spring onion and a bit of fish paste, all wrapped in a used lens tissue: the poor man's sushi roll.

There's no empiric evidence to back that claim and I find this 'filter-debate' tiresome in the extreme.
I personally have noticed no appreciable difference in the taste of a mature cheddar-cheese and Branston-pickle sarnie eaten through a good-quality filter under normal working conditions and I suspect 99% of Home-Owners agree...

Yeah but you have sand in your butties, which impairs the taste :p

:love:the ultimate sanie for me is a cold mash potatoe and pea with loads of salad cream. quite fancy one now.

If you are eating it hot, how about fish fingers with optional mayonnaise or mushy peas?

Otherwise, pitta bread with roast chicken, peppers, cucumber, onion and a little mayonnaise if it for a pack up.

Sorry to go off topic, but i have to ask. Damien; what is that on your avatar please?

Cheese and jam

Edam cheese
strawberry seedless jam

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

spike

I must admit I was wondering that too. I'm sure you can get ointments for it though...

Ah yes... but you have sandwiches on your mind at the moment :)

That's what Laryngitis and Pharyngitis looks like....:gag:....and it's the reason I'm talking in whispers at the moment! :shake:

Get 'em taken out quick... Marac fancies 'em for a sandwich. You'll get a good price if you're quick :suspect:

Edit. I guess unlike tonsils you can't take 'em out... ah well. get better soon!

Oh b****r! I was all ready with my BT details n'all

I can try and scrape a few slivers off if you want? But the tonsils are staying where they are for the time being....

I'll give you first refusal if I take them out though, and I'll obviously start a for sale thread just to keep it all above board....don't want any infractions for trading via PM!! :nono:

Yikes Damien, i hope that you get well soon.

Best wishes,

Tracey
