Thinking of getting Nikon D90, budget of about £1200 what should I buy.Don't need bags or Tripods have these already, also have a 500mm mirror lens could buy adapter for.Like to photograph wildlife ,fishing and grandchildren .Any advice welcome.
Many thanks

Derek

D90 with the 18-70 kit lens, 70-300 VR, maybe a low light prime like the 35mm f/1.8.

Should se you straight for a while.

I think the 16-85mm + 70-300mm is the best combination, but that goes beyond your budget though. :( That's what I went for after having the 18-70mm and the Sigma 70-300mm APO.

There's a good deal for the D90+70-300mmVR here. :)

Thanks for the reply and the Link ,my wife just informed me I can have another hundred pound so top budget limit is now £1300.Might look at that deal and poss get the 50mm lens as well.

Thanks

Derek

Also worth looking on camera price buster website once you have decided what you want.

Now been looking at d7000 with 18-105vr with 55-300vr and 16gb class 10 card will have to get 50 or 35 later.
Any ideas which is best value ,d90 or d7000 driving me round the twist so many options and i haven't got me budget together yet.

Depends on your budget for lenses after the body...

d7000 - newer, more megapixels, better iso
d90 - more affordable (in comparison)

Both are good cameras tho - colleague here got one as an upgrade to his d40 and loves it. Pictures he has posted look really good!

Mainly its up to you - have you tried both in a store to see which feels better?

Oh and go for the 35mm - nicer on the eye plus you wont have to step back so much lol :) (try it if you can to see what I mean)

Thanks for that
found d7000 with 18-105 £1082.26
found 55-300 vr £245.78
Total £1328.04

Have held the D90 not tried D7000 yet, Jessops allowed me to take half a dozen photos with d90 with kit lens 18-105 ,will have to go back and ask to take same photos see what I like best .

Thanks for the advice one and all.

Budget £1300 so only just over my wife loves me lol..

I have tried both, and went for the D90 in the end. And I am glad I did, as I followed a useful tip when looking to purchase in that you should always try to stick 'better' glass in front of whatever body you happen to have in your hands!!

I opted for the D90 as it was literally half the price of the D7000 at the time. With the savings, I went for a Tokina 11-16mm wide angle lens. HTH!

I would get 2x 8Gb cards rather than 16Gb. Too many eggs in one basket etc. ;)

If I had the choice between the D90 and D7000 I'd definitely go for the D7000, though I've had a play with it and it ergonomically it is a bit of a change from previous Nikon's. Not saying better or worse, just a bit different.

d90 if you want to save money and get nice glass, d7000 for a lil bit upgrade from d90 for $200+ more.. i'd rather save that 200 to get a prime lens.

Went into London Camera Exchange today and they let me play with the D7000.What can I say I'm in Love again.Looks like this with 18-105 ,card and poss 35mm or 50mm if not quite enough for 35.Will have to get 70-300vr next year.

Now to find the prices
