what time

you know the one day i don't like dinner time is Sundays. daughter works till 4 so not till 4.30. a quick change and she is out to church doesn't get in till nearly 8.30 (youth meeting after service) horrible day for eating together.

Eat when you want to eat.

If you're hungry...eat.

That's a dangerous attitude for many though; irregular hours work and sleep can play havoc with the system. Also, folk who snack all day because they're not rested properly, instead seek the energy from a mars bar to help them reach for the TV remote, when all they need is regular exercise and sleep.

Quoting just 2 lines out of context isn't very useful.
I was simply saying that there are no hard and fast rules for meal times. There really are no rights or wrongs which apply to absolutely everyone.

I wasn't having a dig ;)
There are plenty of people that have that simple rule though - if I'm hungry, I eat

I agree though, we are all different and too many guidelines (not rules) are published to say when we should eat.

 :D

Saying that though, a lot of people like to be told when/how to do simple things and given structure to their lives.

True....and there are websites for that too

I also think its dangerous to follow the "I'm hungry, eat" method. A lot of the time when you feel hungry you are actually thirsty and a glass of water is all you need.

The trouble is for me Joe are my working hours and what I do just don't work with a I will eat at x time type thing, plus I would want to be tied to such a time line. The kids sometime come home from school and ask for an early tea so with gave an early tea, the flip side of that is what the point of fishing up food if no one is hungry and it goes to waste?

I used to be an eat when and what you like person but May's type II diabetes diagnosis (possibly resolved now) introduced me to a totally new concept (for me), moderation! OK, I had fairly major other health issues in the interim but as a result of the new lifestyle, I've dropped from rather too close to 21 stone to a touch under 17 and as a result of the diet change and my new fitness (comparitive) and exercise, my blood sugar levels are those of a "normal" person, although I'm still on one 500mg Metformin tablet per day tohelp, to be reviewed in Feb.

Mealtimes are very variable - during the week, Friday is the only day when a normal timetable exists. On Mondays, my wife has a relatively late start to her day, leaving for work at about 08:15 or so but not getting home until 20:45 or thereabouts. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are both early starts with her being out of the door at 06:30ish but home at 17:45. On Thursday, she's out early and late back.

As a result of my surgery and probably other factors, I'm waking up at about 04:00 most mornings and having my brekkie at 06:00, possibly with a coffee a bit earlier. Lunch (when I remember it!) is usually as close to half way between breakfast and the evening meal as I can remember to eat it with the evening meal being at 19:00 or 21:00 depending on HER return time.

On holiday, we tend to rise a bit later (or have in the past) so breakfast tends to be 09:00, lunch at 13:00 and dinner at 22:00. Maybe a few nuts or Ouzo snacks (the Greeks almost always have a little something with spirits) in between but rarely a real snack. Again in the past, we've tended to have a mini Mars bar (or Lidl equivalent) at bedtime but that's a thing of the past now.
