As the title says really, I've connected up an old JVC digital camcorder to my W7 x64 PC and I'm getting this message in Device Manager -

"This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. (Code 12)

If you want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices on this system."

I have no idea what it means or what I need to do to rectify the problem. The camcorder is a JVC model which I have used with this PC before. It's connected to the PC via a IEEE1394 "Firewire" board installed into a PCI slot. The hardware and software are the same as I used last time - about a year ago. My wife has sold the camcorder but wants me to make sure we have copies of all the tapes before she sends it to the buyer.

Any suggestions?

Thanks Neil. I removed and reinstalled the PCI card and all is now well ☺

Despite me thinking I'd fixed my problem all I had done was to move one step forward :(

Despite the FireWire card now being recognised by the PC and the camcorder being correctly recognised by Windows and the right drivers being installed the software still refused to record from the video. In order to get it working correctly I had to download a trial version of Corel VideoStudio ... hey presto!

It really is all sorted now :)
