What strap/sling or harness to use

Went out yesterday and after walking a fair few miles came home with a rather sore belly.
Thought my natural reserves of fat would provide adequate protection, but actually ended up a bit bruised from the camera constantly bashing into my midriff hanging my its neck strap

So onto the question, thinking about getting a shoulder style or harness strap. Already use an Optech strap and wondered if anyone has used their sling attachment
Would rather not use one that attached to the tripod mounting, perhaps a single camera harness would work, any thoughts or reviews gratefully received

Use the Optech strap with a 40D and generally wear it as a shoulder strap (one shoulder, worn backwards so the pad fits the shoulder and the camera will hang back-to-front, under a jacket or loose shirt). I arrange the camera so it sits pointing lens down. It's surprisingly comfortable and also quite discreet worn this way.
 
I'm a BlackRapid convert now...
 
Blackrapid all the way mate, got one for Christmas, should have got it ages ago. don't even know i'm carrying my camera, a nikon d300 with grip and a 70-200 lens.:thumbs:

Q-Strap (Black Rapid RS7 Copy - £15) and 'proper' FastenR-3 - £12.
Job Done. :)
 
Are these straps available in different lengths as i'd like a one as long as possible.
 
I have the OpTech sling. I bought a BR tripod mount within 3 weeks which I think speaks volumes. I wish I had got an Black Rapid now.

I'm 6' 8" and a tad padded. I bought a BlackRapid RS-7 which I didn't think was quite long enough. With the RS-7, it is connected via one of those push-clip buckles, so I bough a BERT and 2x BRAD's. I now have to take the strap in a good 10" to have it fit comfortably. Yes, in total it was close to £90, but as a minimum, there's going to be £2000 (even second hand) of camera hanging off the end and I am going to be walking around half of Arizona in August. I wanted something comfortable for long periods...

I've also just bought the Ms a BR-W1 which goes around her shirt potatoes nicely as she liked my RS-7 so much.......

I'm 6'4 and quite a 'big unit'.. the Q-Strap is at it's longest and leaves the camera sitting on my hip.
If you're any taller I'd look into buying and extender piece.
 
Had the Blackrapid RS-7 now for about 4 weeks and there is no way I could revert to a basic strap again. If you get it just make sure it has the FastenR-3 (not the old FastenR-2). The "buck" mod is worth getting as it means there is no risk someone behind you could snap open the q/r buckle and grab your cam!

Same for me - Black Rapid. can use for main body, additional zoom lens, or second body and lens. Like if I want to use a zoom but I want a second camera set up with a shorter lens on it. Like for a sporting a event where you have no time to change lens but the action comes in close.
 
I am thinking of getting something like a blackrapid but at the moment i use the Canon strap n when walking i put it over my one shoulder not my neck which i feel works nicely.
 
I also use a Black Rapid - wearing a strap bandoleer fashion is a lot more comfortable than around the neck IMO, I often carry a 300/2.8 with a black rapid (over 8 lbs in total) and it is very comfortable.

I have the optech strap with sling attachment. I only got it recently so haven't had the chance to use it in anger as yet but so far I'm quite impressed with it.

I am another happy user of the Op-Tech Dual harness (but usually with just 1 body attached)

If you connect to just one side (IE as you would with 2 bodies attached) the camera hangs nicely by your hip, and you can easily rest a hand on it as you walk to prevent any 'bumping'.

It also takes the weight off your neck, and onto your shoulders, so you can enjoy the evening rather than spending it massaging a sore neck :)
 
Quick update, ended up with the Optech bino/cam harness and will pen a short report in the review section.

Sure the Black Rapid is excellent, but I like to leave a q/r plate attached and still not entirely happy only having the camera attached at one point.
