Yes
As title really, been playing with my Dads Bessa R and it has a lovely Canon 50mm f1.8 lens attached but has no lens cap, it could really do with one to protect it even if its not a genuine one.

The Bessa R is a strange beasty, I've been reading all the reviews and they all say the same thing about the rangefinders being out of alignment.

This one is no exception, with the frame line being slightly tilted too. Anyone know where we can get these aligned properly at all, I'm a clumsy sod and wouldn't want to muck things up.

If it's the later Canon LTM ( not the serenar) , its 40mm. You will struggle to get a fit - maybe some leica filters came on that size.

As to alignment, there are some old camera repair guys who can do it. I have the name of one somewhere, I can dig up and PM if you want

Edit : Ah sorry, you want a lens cap, not a filter. The best will be to go to a old equipment shop and try out pld Leica caps. If the fit is not snug, paste a piece of felt inside to make a snug fit.

If it's 50mm f1.8 breech mount then it's 55mm, dunno about the FDN ver, haven't got one.

Canon LTM is reputed to be a good lens, great value for the money. Much cheaper than its Leica counterpart; but apparently a great lens. If you can, will you please post up a photo or two from the lens, especially wide open.

You could try an enlarger lens cap, I have a couple here and they are both about 40mm.

Thanks Arthur, I may have a look in that direction.

Cool - a Demi! Excellent aren't they? Ooze solidness.

Arthur

PS - and a mini-studio too! (they don't... )

Oh yes, I only have the EE here. Loads of other halfs though. Fave right now is the Taron Chic - but the little clockwork Ricoh is a close second.

Arthur

No the mini studios are a little pants but for at the moment, I go to the work in the dark and return in the dark, so its very useful for putting things on ebay.

I find that too. Did my first film since 1985 in the Dial last week, developed it here too. Small world, no?

Thanks.

I had not seen a photo of a Canon later lens. Wanted to see how it looks, and especially if it had the focusing tab.

Enjoy the camera buddy; how easy is the Bessa to use?

Ujjwal

Bessa is sweet, I love all the retro feel and looks with modern lightmeter etc underneath, I just wish they'd got the build quality better first time round.

Trouble is I've got so much to choose from its scary! I reckon though that this will be the camera that will be used the most, simply because its so modern and I won't worry too much about using it constantly.

Hi Pepper

Enjoy the camera. I would love to use it for a few rolls. If you are happy to lend it to me for a week or two ; I'll be happy to put down a deposit with you for the full value of the camera.

Ujjwal

ujj, I need to get the rangefinder sorted first, as its frustrating not being able to focus it all quite right.

Did I see you mention that you could suggest someone to help me earlier?

Yes I did. I'll pm you my ph nos; and we can have a chat.

I think we live reasonably close by anyways
