Im thinking about getting the sigma 10-20 lens and try my hand at some landscapes, was wondering is the F4-F5.6 a great lens or are you better with the F3.5 version. It will be mainly tripod mounted and dont think i will be using it wide open very often so the im swaying the way of the F4-F5.6 but was wondering if the images are better from the F3.5 version or is it six and two threes. :D

You probably dont need the 3.5 so save some cash and grab the cheaper one!

If I was you though, I would get a Tokina 11-16, I think its a better lens, but thats just me :)

If you can afford the Sigma f3.5, then get the Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 instead. If you can find one.

I have the F4-5.6 Sigma, got it because I couldn't find a Tokina at the time and the F3.5 Sigma wasn't available then. It's good but not as sharp as I'd like. Most people seem to say that the Tokina is better.

I have the siggy 4 to 5.6 great lens. The number of times I have used it wide open is approx zero. I have found my best results come in at f9 to f11 or there abouts.

I do not know what theother version is like. But if I were buying new I would not go for the wider aperture.

If i'm correct the Sigma 3.5 got a rubbish write-up, meaning buy the 4.5-5.6 and save your money

Get Tokina 12-24mm f/4 and save your money (or 11-16mm f/2.8 if you can afford to spend more). It is extremely sharp lens, and blows sigma away at every aperture and focal length.

The extra 1-2mm focal length of the Siggy 10-20mm makes a big difference to the field of view if that is your aim.
