Good folk of the f&c section I have a dilemma. I'm going to a wedding in Venice soon and I'm have to take the :whistling: D700 and although I have hardly any spare time I want to take a film camera as part of my 52 cameras thing and as I'm travelling light I'm only going to take one other and I've narrowed it down to a choice of 3

A Yashicamat 124G, lots of hip to be square loveliness  but a bit on the chunky size
A Yashica Electro GTN with that fantastic Yashinon 1.7 lens, great for the dark and dingy interior cafe shots and Venice streets.
Or the Voigtlander Bessa R with a 35mm f2 Voigtlander lens, small and discrete.

Once you've helped me sort this one out I can start the "Which film should I take?" thread

Hard choice, all would be excellent, but if pushed I would go with the Yashica 35 Electro GTN. I have a GT, it has a stunning sharp lens, is very fast to use as I am sure you are aware and although physically bigger than the Bessa, it is quieter and will be great for street reportage style images.

I am sure others will have different views though.

Bessa R. f/1.7 lens on the GTN compared to f/2 with the R is such a small difference, and the 35mm focal length is slightly better than the 45mm for all round shots (personally). The smaller size will also help if you already have to lug around the D700.

I'm going to go with the Mat, some big stuff over there that the wee cameras're not going to do justice. And find someone with a spare XA you can borrow :D

erm well what camera do you trust...as I haven't used those cameras would choose the Voigtlander Bessa R as an interesting backup.

If you trust them all, I would take the lightest.
