I got a local paper this morning and one of my shots from Saturday's rugby was in it again. Out of 4 matches, I have 3 in the paper now. 2 of them had no name and one did (last week's). Should I drop them a note to say that they haven't put my name on again - is it a pointless effort though? :thinking:

How are they getting the images? From you or taken from a third party source?

If you have an agreement with them over your shots that is not being honoured or they are being used without any agreement or notice, I'd send them an invoice and a very strongly worded letter.

I'm not after getting money from them, my Dad is press officer for the rugby club and sends them off but it's nice to have my name under it

Am I just being petty :lol:

Am I just being petty

I don't think so either. However, if they are being given the shots unconditionaly I doubt there is much you can do other than ask nicely.

I was just about to do just that. :lol:

:lol::lol:

Might have to nudge my Dad - gently of course - honest :D

It's funny actually cos it was my 30th on Saturday, I was quite tiddly so asked Dad to take the photos. By half time, I was missing having the camera so took over and out of the little selection he sent the paper, they picked one of mine rather than his :lol::lol::lol:

Surprised they came out - there were quite a few of the ground :cuckoo::lol:

Spoke to Dad and he did send my name with the photo :bat:

In my experience local papers are hopeless at giving proper credits for contributed photos. I've no idea why they behave like this but the cynic in me thinks they are just too lazy and/or don't care.

You should be getting a credit and you are right to make fuss but I suspect if you do they'll simply stop using the photos and/or printing the club news. They're a strange breed, last week all the credits in one of my local papers read "Photo by (paper name) Chief Photographer (tog name)" - they've only got 2 togs!

I wonder how they'd react if the rugby club website reproduced the articles each week with a credit saying "contributed article"? :D
