what shall i get the wife for crimbo?

What does she like? My fiancee is kind of difficult because se doesn't really say what she wants. But I have got her some CDs a couple of books, and as a big surprise a laptop, which she always wants but would never ask for.

she is a pain, she doesn't really have any hobbies.

I got her some jewellery but now at a bit of a loss what else to get.

Well Joe, listening to what you have had to say recently I reckon a pair of earmuffs would be a good bet  ;)

i wouldn't punish her in that way, think of all the gems she'd be missing out on

a good idea! did that last year, and got a new charm for her for her bday next week

Doh!

food - she's a fussy one. Only really likes your standard english meat and veg type fair, so nothing fancy as a gift. I suppose I could get her a meat and potato pie, lol

coffee - she only likes standard coffee, nothing fancy.

She has some books from last year she hasn't read yet! lol

her spare time involves playing with and looking after the kids, she puts everything into that - it's her only hobby.

here's a video blog on that book, wow, looks brilliant :suspect:

How about an experience? Spa day or something?

How old are the kids?

Can the kids make something? My wife loved the fruit bowl they got her with their handprints on.

Nice framed photos of the kiddies ? - or do you have a house full of those already??

daisy is 2 and finn is 1, daisy can make stuff actually. I should think of something like that, only problem is I never have her on my own. I couldn't do it secretly, i'd have to tell her that i was making her something with daisy and so for her to do one for a few hours

She would like something like that, but what to make with a 2 year old?

Buy her a bag of sugar ... sweeten her up a bit :D

How about a trip to a spa, Hoar Cross Hall is a favourite of my wife, not that far from you, not cheap ... but I bet she is worth it ;)

Hand prints are good. I took my girls out ages 3 and 2 (may even of been 18 months) and they did hand prints all over a large fruit bowl (15" diameter) and the eldest dictated a message. Its something she will keep forever, cheap but very thoughtful :D

The person in the shop was in charge of all the hand printing and it came out brilliantly.

Some ideas....

I did a photo book of our sons 1st 2 years for her last year as part of a gift. Others have included jewellry, handbags, clothes... if you know a shop she likes like Oasis maybe some vouchers for there? Also used local salon for pedicure and other stuff... I have also taken my son to a pottery glazing place and did a plate with his hand and foot prints on.

What about ipad? Or a copy of the Guardian so she can get a cushy public sector job :p

i like the custom gift idea, it's just getting my kids out to do it. Every saturday and sunday now before christmas is booked with some event we are doing so unless it is a hand made job at home where i can smash their hands into some clay when she goes upstairs for a poo I'm screwed.

already got an ipad, and she already works as a social work assistant, but a cushy job would go down well, maybe she could have yours

How about an ironing board and one of those metallic covers?

my missus wants some Hunter wellies... whatever they are... for walking the dog. At £75 a pair i hope they're something pretty special!

She also wants a Gersemi coat - because Barbour is soooo 2011

Ha ha, your OH sounds like me! Gersemi coats are not cheap either but Barbours will always be in! Hunter Wellies used to be brilliant but now they are made in china and not Scotland they are half the quality and double the price. Buy her some muck boot co ones for dog walking they are neoprene and so warm! Mine have lasted years and I wear them alot! If she likes country chic, the dubarry boots are gorgeous but Dublin river boots are just as nice IMO!

To the OP, you can buy kits for moulding kids hands and feet and you hang them on the wall.
How about a kindle?

kindle is a no no, she won't read anything digital, she's old school!

sorry to hijack Joe!

my mate owns this company so i'm hoping for big discounts on the Gersemi kit!

That's handy then for the gersemi!

Ok of not a kindle, what about some nice leather gloves I wear mine all the time!

Or a Filofax mini diary for her handbag!? Or a Kipling handbag - practical and stylish!

A local library membership card?

Or, if you want to splash out a little more, what piece of new glass do you want for your 5D?

With cakes?

How about something that needs batteries???

One of those cordless vacuums perhaps..........

How about some really nice smellies? Molton Brown do some lovely ones. Your wife could enjoy long soaks in the bath whilst you get the little poppets to bed so extra brownie points as well!

bought my missus a frost cover for her car as she started early mornings didnt go down well though

I think that was a great pressie. Very thoughtful:thumbs: I also start work early (4am some mornings). There's nothing worse than having to de-ice a car at that time in a morning.
I must admit though I'm not like most women:lol::lol:

As for a christmas gift for your wife, instead of buying her something, have you thought of taking her out for a meal or even cooking a special meal for her. If she is cooking Christmas dinner she might like a day away from the oven:shrug:

Get someone to have the kids and have a weekend away in January?

A washing machine?

A couple of years ago I got an old and battered second hand washing machine for the wife.................... Probably the best deal I've ever done!

i'm the chef in our house:thumbs:
