What settings should i use for taking photos at Gigs/Concert?

Im a newbie to photoraphy as you can probably tell.

I go to many gigs and i want to capture those great moments and rememeb them foreverr.

I have this camera below. So you know what im working with

I know its not the best camera ever but it seems okay, i got it for xmas as a present.

Could someone tell me what settings i should have etc in order to get good photos

Ok kinda tricky. I would say put it in M, ISO to max, aperture to the smallest number, shutter speed to the focal length. However high ISO on a compact will be horrendous. You probably can't tell what the focal length is for the shutter speed. Hmm. Shutter speed no less than 1/50 and put the ISO to max. They will be very very noisy and possibly dark images.
 
I agree with pete (maybe a little lower on the ISO), but the type of gig and venue can make a huge difference to your gig photos.

If it's a stadium gig then forget it your not close enough to get good shots, but a nice club gig or outside in a tent like at Cambridge folk festival then you can do OK.

I would also say what do you want to really do, take gig photos, or go to gigs to have a good time seeing the band listen to the music and get some memento photos. I've found that when I really want good gig shots I miss out on the musical event by spending to much time fiddling with the camera.

As an idea I took these with an old Fuji A210 they are about ISO 400 and shot all in auto. Yes they are noisy and not perfect but they do bring back the memory's.

Nice :D If you get enough light you'll be fine. If its a no-name band doing their first gig you maybe pushed. I got this at Boy Kill Boy last year with my trusty A70 at ISO400, f/2.8, 1/30. I ran it through Noiseware too. Funnily enough one member of the band is called Peter Carr!
