looking for a new phone. Choice seems to be iPhone 7, samsung S7 or google pixel. What do we think?

Not sure between the standard and the plus/edge/cal models either.

A decent camera is important but not essential as I only really use it for candid snaps. Most important uses are email, connecting and managing my social media accounts and the usual phone/messaging etc.

I would go Google Pixel without a doubt, the iPhone 7 offers nothing new (for me), and although the S7 looks and performs fantastically I still prefer the stock-android experience

Excellent Review here

I'm a fan of pure android so would go for the pixel if those were my choices.

Heard a lot of negative feedback about the Samsung version of android but it may have improved.

My current phone is a Moto X Style and I like it a lot - fast, responsive, good size.

Size is something that you will need to check out before committing to a phone.

Fantastic phone, if only they did a slightly smaller version then I'd be keen, especially now there's a 3T.

I have the standard s7, looked at the edge but preferred the standard one.
After seeing the new Google phone advertised I did have a look at the spec and on paper seemed bang on to me.
Never been an iPhone fan mainly because of all the messing about with iTunes.
S7 is a great phone in my humble opinion. camera is good. definitely ticks all the other boxes you need it for as do all the phones really

These are 3 fairly different devices. First obvious difference is physical size, with the iPhone being smaller than the others - if you have good eyes, like a smaller device and don't mind itunes then it's an obvious choice. For the other 2 it's down to how you like your android - clean & plain or bright and colourful with lots of added features.

After almost 6 years of Android I've gone to windows, and love the better call quality from my Lumia. :)

The S7 and the Pixel both run android, personally I would go with the S7 out of the two but that is based on brand snobbynish (is that a word?)

The iphone is different operating system altogether so you are not really comparing apples and apples here.

I have the 6s iphone and my other half has the S7 edge.
The camera on hers seems much better than mine, especially in low light.
Then again hers crashes every now and then and mine doesn't so...
Plus I have a Macbook and an iPad and it all syncs to the cloud nicely :)

You really need to go into a shop and test a few out to see what you prefer.

I have the iPhone 7 which was a amazing update from my previous iPhone 4 - no surprise there.

I take lots of internal house pictures for my day job and love the quality of the camera in low light. Others remark just how good the quality of the photos are (although my aim is usually off target!).

It's true that these aren't terribly similar, despite the similar prices, and did have a play with a few differently models in my recent phone-search. I prefer a smaller handset and rather liked the iPhone 7, but felt the right price was about £250-£300 rather than £600, especially compared to £150 android phones. The S7 is good, but the Samsung skin doesn't work for me.

When I last upgraded I'd had enough of bad updates on my Note3 so wanted a change from Android. Couldn't bring myself to buy an iphone, liked the Windows phone (but not the lack of apps).

In the end I went back to Android, but pure Android with the Nexus 6p and it's been very good. Out of the phones you listed, the Pixel is the only one I'd even consider (just my opinion obviously).

And to add to your dilemma there are always the Chinese brands, like xaiomi - I know nothing about phones but have recently bought one for both me and my wife and so far (2 days in) they seem low amazing value and pretty good build quality, and the 2 have cost less than daughters Sony Z5..

look for a used galaxy note, cracking phone.
i have an old note 2 which is still amazing.
bought used for £100 on this forum nearly 2 years ago.
