Yes
As he walks up the 17th this afternoon in Golfs greatest tournament The Open what must Tom Watson be thinking.

He is the lead, he is two months off being 60 and just ten months ago he was having a hip operation.

What other sport is so disinterested in age :):)

Green bowls? :D

Sorry about this comedy comeback. Just that 7 straight hours broadcast of what is probably the most dullest sport ever invented is just too much to bear, speaking as a TV licence payer.

 Best let you know I'm not at all a sports person.
Mind you, even at certain times of the year, bowls gets that high profile status on the telly where the players have their own team colour and sponsorship and they become all competitive! What's all that about??

The coverage this evening had an awful problem with the music, wowing like nobody's biz. And being a Sunday, I s'pose nobody could be arsed to fix it.

Saw a clip of this fella the other day:

(Credit to wildoat on pbase).

Will try and put the clip on Youtube, sometime.

kneepads are a bit ott don't ya think. Whats his name, remind me never to buy a camera off him, especially if he claims its in mint condition without a mark on :D:D:D

He's Alex Jackson.

When looking up about him I came across this quote:

An aside: on kneepads, our principal photographer has been shooting for thirty years, wears kneepads during all-day shoots which require work on and off the knees - her knees are still totally shot (she has trouble standing when she has been sitting a long time).

I think Alex's back will go first . . .

Rugby :D

Sadayoshi Morita of Japan.

While Morita never graduated beyond the realms of club rugby in Japan, he was handed the title of world's oldest player in 2005. His age? 90.

Morita took up rugby in 1934 and aside from several years when he was conscripted in to the Japanese army he has been playing ever since. "It is extraordinary tough for 90-year old guy to run at top speed. But you must get over it to enjoy playing rugby. If it weren't for the sprints in this game, I would be able to play rugby until I was 110 years old," he said in 2005.

And there's loads Golden Oldies teams (Veterans), they have age related shorts with these rules:

Coloured Shorts
35 to 59 years Club or red shorts If a player is wearing red shorts in this category it means he does not want to be tackled to the ground or pushed off his feet. Any player in red shorts may be 'held' in the spirit of GOR but NOT tackled.
60 to 64 years Red shorts Can be held but not brought to the ground.
65 to 69 years Gold shorts Not to be tackled or held, may be touched and opponents may stand in front.
70 to 79 years Purple shorts Not to be touched or obstructed in any way.
80 + years Special Committee shorts Not to be touched or obstructed in any way.
N.B. Club shorts are the normal coloured shorts worn by the club. These MUST NOT be red or gold or purple in colour.
