Depends on exactly what I want the camera to do for me. I'll happily shoot M and if I'm chasing dogs or kids around then sometimes I'll use S. If I'm shooting landscapes I'll use A to control just the DOF since I'm usually using a tripod and shutter speed does not really matter and I'll even use P for some quick and dirty flash work.

If you stick the camera on P and dial in -2 exposure comp and fire that flash it's the quickest and easiest off camera flash you will ever find for those dramatic outdoor saturated background style shots :)

So all of them.
 
I use what ever mode i think is best for the shot i'm taking. Quite often AV. Usually manual for action shots (like birds in flight).
Sometimes Tv for slow shutter speed panning shots or panning where the light changes along the route and i need a certain shutter speed to stop the action or get a desired effect.

Mainly A, but it really depends on what I'm trying to photograph! Sometimes I'll use S, and other times the Landscape Mode. I used to use M a lot on my old camera, but now that I've gone digital I like to experiment with all the modes, as I think it's good to get as much out of the camera as possible.
 
Manual for constant lighting, TV for when the lighting is changing
 
I mainly work with animals, specifically horses on the go, and snakes so on occasion I have been lazy and used auto.

Mostly I'm in S due to my subjects tendancies to be there one second and gone the next but now I'm used to all the functions of my D60, I shoot in full manual when I have a subject thats being more abliging :lol:
 
I'm getting a sense of de ja vu' here but....

For me it's AV mode unless I'm using flash, then it's manual. When I shoot AV mode I'm continuously using exposure compensation - which is necessary with most subjects (ie mostly bright tones, back lit subjects, dark scenes etc etc).

When this subject comes up I always get the impression that people assume that with AV mode the user has to accept the shutter speed that the camera "thinks" is optimal (which it rarely is). So, can we have another tick-box for AV mode with exposure compensation (which is the effectively the same as manual).

Or am I trying to simplify things too much?
 
Whichever one I need for the shot! Manual, Aperture or Shutter....
 
But manual mode is subject to the same exposure problems that besets all other modes. i.e the camera is trying to make the overall image 18% grey (I'm talking digital here obviously). So, the camera will brighten up dark scenes...and under expose bright scenes and react badly to very bright light sources. Blah blah.....

Unless you know how to read the exposure meter and compensate for it then you'll forever be taking "test shots" manual/av/tv or whatever.
