I have started doing weddings last year, I done a couple for friends and got really good feedback, so I started doing a few more. My last two in particular, have been big weddings, and I was slightly nervous beforehand, but the feedback from the 1st one of the year was great and tonight I dropped off an album of proofs to the couple on their return from honeymoon.

I'd originally really liked the photo's, then the more I looked at them, the more I started to pick small flaws, then I'd look again and think they were good. When I dropped them off to the bride and groom tonight I had a cup of tea with them whilst they looked through them. The Bride was actually crying when she seen them and said that they exceeded her expectations, she doesn't like being photographed, but loved the photographs and the way they both looked very natural in them.

This feedback meant the world to me, obviously I was paid for the photography, but seeing the reaction to the photographs meant more to me than the cash.

This is perhaps the best feeling I've experienced in my photography career so far!

Great feeling isn't it! :)

I had an email from a client the other week, containing a few final details....it was ended with 'we are so excited you are taking our photos!'

This naturally gave me a big head for the rest of the week...but then I wondered why, I'm no better than the next man :lol:

But maybe we all underestimate ourselves sometimes :)
 
It is a great feeling, but like yourself, I don't see myself as any better than other photographers, in fact, compared to some on here, I've still got a lot to learn!

I suppose if I waited until I thought I was the best, I'd never do a wedding! Every one is a learning curve, I notice things each time and strive to improve!

I'm already looking forward to the next one!

Isn't it great when someone takes the trouble to tell you how much they appreciate your talent , boosts your confidence and then crosses your palm with cash as well.

Well done, Dave. Keep on enjoying what you are doing.
 
for me its walking into WH Smiths and seeing a load of cover shots i have taken
even after 9 years i still cant get used to that feeling
 
It was always nice when I photographed a wedding and the couple would spend 15-30 minutes with me between the ceremony and the reception, have a cup of tea etc. and thank me for making it such a wonderful day...aww schucks

If any one is the master of ceremonies at a wedding it is the Photographer.
A friendly and well organised photographer can make the day.

Apart from taking the photographs , he sets the pace and communicates with every one with out having to act the barking sheepdog.

There is nothing worse than to see a Photographer become flustered and lose control of the situation. Guests get totally confused and mill around making everything impossible, children cry, strong men get angry and wives start hunting loo's in pairs. :help:

The resulting Photographs will probably be more suitable as riot shots for the News of the world than a wedding album. :bat:

An excellent set that is complimented by the Bride and Groom, are a very good indicator that the photographer not only got good photographs but was also professional on the day. ;) :)
 
Perhaps we are all to self critical at times,we pick up tiny faults that the vast majority of people would never spot. Look at some of the critique offered on here ,for example, a lovely shot of a landscape somewhere and somebody will say "that blade of grass in the lower corner spoils it", well meant advice,but most people would never spot it.

Good on you and yes, it is nice when people love our photography.

Hi Know what you mean, my pictures have never been on a magazine cover :lol: (waiting for pigs to fly) but when I go to WH Smiths (if my picture is in Digital Photographer magazine), its exciting and a great feeling, going to the shop to buy the magazine makes it more exciting (wouldn't be the same getting the magazine in the post :lol:) :)
