Thinking of taking some shots of my Audi Coupe at the weekend after seeing some of the pics on here over the last few days.

Liberalis always seems to produce cracking shots or is it the exotic subjects I am drawn to?

Saying that I loved Reggie the mini too but I cant decide what makes a good shot.

The car, the scenery, the angle?

Hmm, I think (if you include it) the scenery needs to suit the "style" of the car (Land Rover = Mountains sort of thing), the right colours adds impact aswell.

Hmmmm

Low angle, saturated colours, minimal reflections (use a polariser). Liberalis really is the guy to respond to this though :)

I dont think saturated colours would work as the car is a very dark metallic. I have found a wall with some superb graffiti on it. Its an old Skate park which is now closed down and you can park against the wall. Was thinking of that kind of approach.

The car has been lowered and blinged a bit so a country scene would not work.

It must be a bit of both - a good choice of location with an exotic looking car.

Having seen some of Liberalis's (Kris) original images (Aston Martin in the workshop) the basic image is only quite simple and plain.

The results come from the processing after and that's what makes the difference between an ok looking image and a really good one!

Angle of the car is important - something around a 3/4 view from the front or rear.
framing is vital, so don't just stick the car dead centre of the frame
Angle of the front wheels and of course a little tyre paint never goes amiss ;)
As said above, reflections (accidental ones at least) detract from the shot as to fussy or hap hazard backgrounds.

best thing to do is get shooting :)

I can't add anything to whats been said already, just keep practicing.

Andrew, not all the time mate... I still aim to get it right in camera, but if I have a image in mind but no equipment or weather to suit, one has to improvise.

Reminds me of a saying, you cant polish a turd.

Action Shots are always better

Not sure I agree there Sisteron. Action shots can have more interest but a well taken static can look fantastic in a way that motion shots never can.

Some tips & ideas here at mat****kinson dot com/tutorial.

I couldn't seem to post the link for some reason ( I think that it's profanity filter is stopping it - the guys full name is matthew watkinson but shortened to matt)
