What makes a good picture?

A serious question, I'm curious....

Does it have to be perfectly exposed? perfectly in focus and crystal clear, so sharp that you could be mistaken for thinking it was taken using high definition? does it have to fall into the rule of thirds precisely? does it have to have every blemish and imperfection removed in photoshop, even if it is an imperfection that was on the original subject? (I kid you not, there's a story there!) is it the subject? how it was taken? or does it simply have to be an image that people look at and say 'thats a nice/ good picture'?

No such thing because if there was everybody would be able to replicate it and photography would be boring. The then perfect picture would no longer be the perfect picture because it would be so common you would be striving for better. Human nature. ;)

'Good' is an almost entirely subjective notion. One man's good, is another man's poor.

i agree with above

my best photo would be someone else's worst

human nature to always want to improve
