What lens or lenses in your bag would you not miss if it was never seen again?
Mine are the Canon ef-s 17-55 kit and the ef 28-105 F3.5-4.5 USM mkII, although the latter is a good sharp lens I do have better.

Alby,

Mine's got to be the 70-200/2.8 IS....I think it's only been out twice in the past 12 months. Absolutely nothing wrong with it except there's always a better option if I'm after something specific and it's not one to put in the bag "on spec". I'll have to dust it off before I forget which way to twist the zoom ring.

This may seem a stupid question but why do you spend megabucks on a lens and then not use it,I mean my lens that I would not miss is a Hanimex 200mm that I got for about a fiver

Would have to be the 50mm for me, I use it mostly for macro and it sits in the bag wearing a diopter and an extension tube but rarely comes out!
Most of the closeups I have got were done with the 70-200 or 100-400 simply because they were on the camera at the time and the insects would either have gone before I changed it or would have been out of range for the 50mm.

im the same as bob, mine is the 70-200/2.8 IS , bit too big a lens and obvious zoom quality compromises.

Well then guys if you really arent that bothered about them then let me take them off your hands ;) just what I am looking for

I'm sure there'll be an occasion where a fast zoom will be the best option on a particular day but I generally go out with a specific subject in mind and I have better lenses to cover it with. Whilst the zoom wins hands down in flexibility, it can't compete with the quality and creativity of the 50L, 85L, 135L and 200L (all IMHO, of course)

I've only got two lenses. :'( I can't afford any others. But it would have to be the Nifty Fifty simply because it's cheaper. :D

I have the 17-85 IS on my 40D. Not great at wide angle, unless stopped down, but very versatile, fast focussing and extremely sharp from about 35 mm upwards.

Thinking about it, the 17-55 2.8 IS would probably be my choice - if I could afford one!

It would have to be the 70-200 2.8L IS for me too - rarely seems to get used - just the way it is. Thinking about it, closely followed by the 180L Macro, which hasn't been used for a good while. I really should oughta decide what areas I want to concentrate on.

It would have to be My Sigma 17-35 2.8-4.0 EX...it's a fantastic, sharp copy and it's only been on the camera once since I've owned it:lol: I thought I needed something wider than 24mm so when I was offered it at a very good price I grabbed it:cuckoo: I really must just pop it on a body and take it out for the day....if only to make sure the damn thing still works:nuts:

Mine is the 50mm 1.4 I have taken 4 pics with it in 6 months.

Good thread this if you are looking for a particular lens and someone has one they are not using:D

mine was my 50mm f1.7 - I honestly hadn't used it in something like 10 years so I sold it.

Three unused 70-200/2.8 IS's....if someone else chips in, we can make a damn good coffee table. :)

You can make a milking stool as it is:lol:

Put a bucket on top and you've got the apollo all over again

Mine would be my 17-40L (rarely use it these days) or 80-400 Tokina (have never used it other than to test) as it's better to carry 12-24 Siggy, 24-70L and 70-200L f2.8 IS plus 1.4x which gives me a great 12-280mm range.

Favourite and most used lens would have to be my EF 100 Macro. I love this lens to bits. Both macro and portraits are great on this lens, and by god is it sharp!

I really want to try a 65 MPE but am scared to as I think I would then need to purchase one, and to be honest it would be just a plaything. I have other items I want to buy first.

My favorite lenses are a 10-20mm and a 70-200mm f:2.8 both by Sigma, but I have nothing really good enough to fill the gap between them.
