Simple question!

For me it was the Zeiss 25mm f2.8, Even though I've got the 24-70mm I really miss the close up performance of the Zeiss, it was fantastic. and I never got to try it on a full frame camera. Traded it for a 70-200mm before I bought the D700.

So what is the lens you regret selling?

My Canon 17-40mm, fantastically sharp but i needed something more normal for my move to FF, might buy it back from him soon though :)

ahhhh.... :)

NONE OF THEM!!! Only cos I've never been brave enough to get rid of any...

What have I sold and miss now? Nifty Fifty F1.8 mk1. It had a bit of mechanical noise compared to the new F1.4 which replaced it but mine was every bit as sharp.

What will I miss when and if ever I sell? 100-400 and 70-200 IS F4 when I eventually and rashly sell them both to fund a 70-200 IS f2.8 and a 2x Converter.

70-200mm f4

Sold my 200-400mm twice. Regretted it both times. Now I have the new version. So I'm happy. Not selling it ever!
I do regret selling the 85mm 1.4G though. I can see another coming..

Kev.

The one lens I regret selling is my 70-200 f4 L non IS. I replaced it with the 2.8 IS version which is a better lens overall, but I wish I'd kept the f4 for those outdoor moments. It was fantastically sharp on every body I tried it on. The only other lens that comes close was the 100-400 IS L which I sold when I got my 5D3 and decided to keep my Sigma 150-500 OS instead.

EF 100mm Macro. I bought it to try and get into macro over the cold winter months. Couldn't really give it the time it deserved and sold it on.

I did take some good portraits with it though and I with I had kept it for this alone if not the macro aspect.

Personally, I don't think I'll part with another lens. I go through lulls with particular ones from time to time but come back to them eventually.

My Sigma 30mm 1.4 The sharpest lens I've used and I've used a few (70-200 f4l, canon 50 1.4, 17-55 f2.8...)

I'm pretty sure that's worth the death penalty in some countries :D

:lol::lol:

I did buy the same one back at the same price I sold it at. Then sold it again. :bang::bang:
The vrII is nice though. The zoom is rather stiff still though.

I've often had the upgrade urge for the VRII but I don't really use it enough to warrant it, plus I've generally read there is little in it optically?

Not a fan of the VR in the MKI version though it must be said :gag:

I do regret getting rid of a perfect Tokina 12-24mm for this 17-40mm (was supposedly a back up for 24-70, well no it ISN'T!). Probably I will have to reverse that decision.
There was also 200mm f/2.8L I could have some good use of, but never mind, 70-200 II is coming my way one day.

Canon 400mm F5.6L. I'm on my 3rd one!
I sold the others because I thought I couldn't use the lens properly and almost immediately regretted it.
If you ever see my present lens in Classifieds please remind me of this post.

Nikon 18-70mm lens, ok it was only a kit lens but sharp as sharp could be. On the other hand i was so glad to get rid of my Sigma 170-500mm lens, impossible to hand hold as it had no image stablisation and weighed a ton.

The wife....only got 2 camels for her and both of them got the hump with me.

Biggest mistake for me was selling my EF300 f2.8 IS L to get a 400 as i dont think i have ever used a lens as sharp as the 300 and as good at taking tc's not to mention how light it now seems compared to lugging the 400 round a track all day.

I must of regretted selling my first canon 70-200mm F4 Lens as I bought another 1 a year later then sold that to get the F2.8 version and would now NOT buy the F4 version again

I used to Love my 135mm F2 and cannot praise it highly enough but I just did not use it enough and the 70-200f2.8 took its place which gets used all the time

Thinking about it not sure if i regret selling, but have brought the Nikon 180mm F2.8, three time now,and sold them :)

I regret selling all my kit last year, loved all of it. The Canon 1D3 is a beautiful machine and with the 35mm f/2, 24-105 f/4 and 70-200 f/2.8 I had it made.

Now I'm trying to build it up again but just have a D3s and 24-70 at the moment. :(

Nikon 180mm 2.8D, compact, sharp and great colours. Still miss it even having the 70-200VR2....

You sure have some of the fanciest Nikon bodies

And another TP member living in Saudi

I'm now on my 3rd wife, but this time I got her into photography and now she cannibalises most of my gear before I get a chance to sell them; but I have to say, I have regretted selling every lens I've sold.

I had to sell a Nikon 70-210 F4 to fund a camera repair, and I still miss it. It really was a great lens, especially for the price.

When funds permit I intend to buy one again. Ironically the fella that sold me mine missed it so much that he bought another one!

Stupidly sold my Canon 100mm f2, for no reason what's so ever.

I'm thinking of trading mine for a 85mm.

Sold my 35mm f1.8 to friend when I switched from a Fuji S5 to Canon. He's mistreating my baby.

Last year I sold all my gear, including 40D, 17-85, 50mm f1.8, 10-20mm Sigma and 120-400mm Sigma, along with all my other gear, including bags, flashes, filters etc.

Feel better now though as I have a D90 and will hopefully be getting a Nikon 70-200 and x2 convertor in the Summer. :)
