What Lens to compliment 17-85

So new to this DSLR business, got a 400D with the Canon 17-85is and have some spare cash from work bonus so thought would put it towards a lens that will ultimately compliment the 17-85, whats your recommendations??

Depends on what you shoot, but if it's range you're after, look at the 55-250mm - a great value lens IMO, especially for the learner brigade (myself included).

Depends what you want to shoot. The 10-22 would complment it nicely, but only if you're an ultra-wide junkie.

If you're more of a telephoto shooter, a 70-300 IS (or similar) would fit the bill.
