Hi

basically i have the basic canon and am looking at some lenses,

i either get a sigma or taron macro ( see other thread)

or i can get a

24-70mm ( it is less expensive than the 18-50mm WHY? is it worse and any experience)

or

the 18-50mm f2.8 both sigma

any expereince with boths lenses and which do you think is the best way to go.

Any reason why you wouldn't want to keep the kit lens (18-55?) and try another focal length?

Perhaps the Sigma 10-20mm if you fancy a crack at wide angle? Or a 70-300 for tele work? Or perhaps a fast prime?

i really want a faster lens such as a f2.8.

will i not see a difference in quality between the kit and the other sigmas?

Well, being a Nikon shooter, I have no personal experience with the canon kit lens. And yes, a faster, i.e. 2.8 lens, would be better for lower light shooting.

But once again, it's what you like to shoot that should dictate your choice as "pro" lenses (which you will see a difference with) are not cheap...

Hi

24-70mm ( it is less expensive than the 18-50mm WHY? is it worse and any experience)

It's about £2 less expensive.......so probably about £2 worse:cuckoo:

i think i was comparing it to the non macro which i think is about £70 cheaper.

Throw the Sigma 17-70mm f/2.8-4.5 DC macro into the mix as well - quite a few folk progress to this as a walkabout lens after using the kit lens for a bit.

Remember - lenses don't make the picture, they take the picture.

would the 24-70 or 18-50 be better quality though, less distortion etc
