What lens for nikon d5000

I started a thread on here last week about live music photography. I have just purchased a Nikon d5000 with the basic 18-55mm lens. I was wondering which lens would be best to buy for gig photography i have been told the nikon 50mm 1.8, but i have read this doesn't work as well with he nikon d5000. I only want to spend about 100 and ideally want to buy brand new.

If you are looking for brand new, this is probably the cheapest you will get with autofocus:

You might be able to get cheaper if you have a shop around. I have recently started to use this lens for gig photography and it's great.
 
You need the 50mm f1.4g lens in order to autofocus on your d5k.
Else you need to manual focus which is a bit difficult considering what you are shooting.
 
a cheaper alternative could be the 35mm 1.8 - great lens and will AF on your D5000

oops.. nevermind.. thats in the link above.. as mentioned the 50mm 1.8 wont auto focus on the D5000 :)

Yep, either the 35mm 1.8 or a 50mm 1.4 AFS. You won't get either for anywhere near £100 though I'm afraid. I don't think you would really find anything significantly more suitable than your kit lens for that kind of money.
