Hello all,

I have been going through the relevant threads to my query esp threads on compact vs LSR and I understood the differences and their performance quality. I have always have a simple compact camera but at this stage I'm not keen to get a LSR. Instead I was wondering if it's possible to get a compact camera with the below specs:

*Powerful optical zoom
*Strong shutter speed and macro
*Hi ISO
*Wide angle lens

Currently, my compact Sony is turning 6yrs old and it is not as satisfying as before :( I'm keen on the above specs mostly because I enjoy taking close-up pictures and "teasing" with the focus lens :) Also, I enjoy taking night scene pictures :)

I'm nothing close to being a beginner in photography but have always enjoy taking pictures. Any suggestions and advise are welcome :) Thank you! :)

How much do wish to spend?

There's a wealth of choice now depending on whether you want a traditional compact camera with the usual tiny sensor (which is their biggest limitation) or one of the new mirrorless offerings from various manufacturers with a DSLR sized sensor which will perform as well and even better than many DSLRs.

Hello CT,

Thank you for your reply. Been out in the wild, hence the late reply. My budget is between $500-$700 (say in USD as I am aware that this is a UK forum). I am basically looking for any compact that would allow me to take better close-up pictures and fast moving objects. Also, pictures in low light.

So, any cameras really, camera that would cater my above needs :) Also, something that is not as chunky as SLR. Please advice.

Many thanks :)

Thank you Rhody and Boliston! Will definately check them out! Thanks! :-)

Hi Sunnyday - happy hunting - there is no perfect camera, just one that suits your needs the best.

Best wishes - rhody
