What is your worst injury? Oh and what casued it?

For me it is either breaking my arm or picking up a slodering iron up the wrong way round.

I did my arm by falling off a wet balancing beam in a park. As i fell, my forearm hit the beam and snapped teh first bone up into the other one, breaking that one. It stung. A lot.

The soldering one hurt like hell to. I wasnt looking what I was doing. I just grabbed for it. I then put it the solder. At that point I swore very loudly. The teacher wasnt to bothered

What are your storys?

Cause = penis head in a car not looking
action = Impales 750cc Honda into said car
flys over said car
lands on head and shoulder forcing the 2 apart
effect = tears out nerves from left arm to base of neck
pain and lots of it
2.5 years off work
over 25 years ago and still hurts "loads" from time to time
Be careful out there Matt

Matt, how strange, what a morbid question to ask of the forum members.

from what i remember, i got my left index finger trapped in a metal door and my finger nail completely broke off, it hurt more when they (hospital) sewn it back on, it's still not right.

Ironically, i broke my right hand last year (well the 4th finger bone (in the hand) whilst drunk and running, i lost my balance and landed on it, and i never felt a thing :D

OUch. After yours and Chris's stories, I think I will be sticking to four wheels

broke my leg when i was drunk, climbed up a fence and then jumped over the other side.
the side i climbed up was about 7 feet, but the other side was a 12 foot drop into some brambles.
serves me right

I cut my finger on some paper once, stung like ****

broke my knee (basicly it was bended the other way around) the other leg got almost cutted off in a knee(luckily it wasnt lol finished with operation and loads of stiches and pain for a long while) other injuries like pieces of glass in my foot are like nothing:)

Hmmmm Never thought about it but here goes

Year 1980 bike Suzuki gp100 (dont laugh)
I was riding round a corner when a drink driver came round on the wrong side of the road resulting in me looking down on to a blue volvo from about 40ft .... my landing was terrible got no points at all, What I did get was two severly broken legs both femur fib n tibs in both legs after 6 months on traction (static and mobile) I swear the nurse was the daughter of satan when tightening the nuts....anyway it took 12 months to get the casts off and another 12 learning to walk again and the driver got ....NOTHING turned out he was a top copper in hull or somewhere and I got a fine for not displaying an L plate

JUSTICE eh

Picked up some red hot metal and burnt some skin on my hand.

Picked up some red hot wire that me and a mate were burning in physics with 12v, cut through my skin.

and the one Im proudest of - breaking my big toe on a bouncy castle by doing a flip and landing on only the toe :p it hurt. alot. I couldnt walk for the best bit of a week and I refused to go to the hospital :p

Regards, James

Broken nose ... I was in a hoooge hurry and I needed inks to print a pic to take to London next day, shops were about to close and I ran into PC World ... no seriously ... I actually ran 'into' Pc World.

So it was closed then:thinking:

As a 7 yr old at school, messing about in the playground I jumped up whilst standing under a concrete window ledge. Split my head open and needed two stitches. Hurt like hell and my blonde hair turned ginger with all the blood.
12 yrs I was racing my bike against a mate. Went to ride round a bend on a gravel section of pavement. The wheels just slipped away from underneath me and I put my hand out to catch my fall. Took a few layers of skin off my hand as it skidded across the ground and had loads of tiny bits of black gravel stuck in the weeping flesh. Took my Mum hours trying to pick it all out.
As bad as it gets I'm afraid, no broken bones in almost 46 years.

I burnt my knee on the exhaust of my dad's bike when I was a kid, had a scar from that for about 12 years

About it really

Errr, thats the most embarrassing bit ... no it wasnt ... in my haste I stupidly ran into the wrong door.:$

If i see someone do that i would litrally roll up

I've broke my left hand (the bone that connects your wrist to your knuckles) i feel on the floor on chrismas night with a beer in my hand and all i heard was "clink" and then my mum heard "ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" the nurse said i was lucky not to have broken my wrist

The bone is bent now :(

Six years ago :-

Sunday league football.

Im a goalkeeper, ball is in the other half of the pitch.
I step forward & CRACK goes my right achilles tendon - full rupture.
Operation, week in hospital,5 months in plaster & 6 months of physio.

Take year off from footy & get then boots out of cupboard for the
following season.

First game of the season,20 mins in 2nd half - yup CRACK goes left
achilles - full rupture.
1 week in hospital, different surgeon,7 weeks in plaster,6 months of physio.

Throw boots away.

Change of career & become a buse driver.

Left leg going up & down on clutch for approx 8hrs a day & you guessed
it - Crack goes left achilles.

Blah blah of work now for the 4th week due a very badly stretched achilles.

Have an appointment on the 13th of this month with the fracture clinic :(

Another Goalkeeping injury....

Sunday morning, playing in a really competitive "derby" game, guy from the other side hit this thundering shot which I managed to get to and somehow tip over the bar. Crowd went wild....all three of them.
I got to my feet, players patting me on the back, but my hand felt "funny".
Looked at my gloves, and the fingers on my right hand were all over the place and hurting like hell.
Managed to ease my glove off, I had dislocated three fingers and they were all pointing in opposite directions..looked like a pound of sausages.:(:(:(

Trainer came running on, popped them back into place asked if I was able to carry on. Yeah right!!

Compressed spine after jumping across a two foot gutter. Had to undergo a level two spinal fusion (two disks removed and replaced with titanium cages and frames then a bonegraft). Suicidal pain.

I ended up in hospital once with a broken ankle after falling off a TV camera hoist.

I ended up in hospital in Austraila with pneumonia after been taken from the F1 circuit in an ambulance.

..and the weridest..........

I ended up in hospital with a head wound, on my 35 birthday, in Manchester, after being hit on the head by a thrown snowboard (I got to keep the snowboard thou).

Mmmm, let me think

I've cut my head and needed stitches 6 separate times from various things like faling off sofa while jumping on it or falling onto corner of radiator or running into scaffolding etc

I've broken my leg falling off a climbing frame, broke my arm skiing and then broke it a couple of years back falling down the stairs after tripping on a long skirt I was wearing

I broke all my toes on one foot walking into a bedframe in Florida

I have had whiplash twice from car accidents

I burnt my right wrist by spilling one of those citronella candles all over it and then burnt my leg the other day bu dropping a cup of Bovril straight out of the kettle (the water that is)

And I've torn the muscles round my thigh and hip causing them to knit back together round nerves and now have trapped nerves for life in my thigh...

..........but none of those is worse than getting a paper cut :lol::lol:

I think I'm a tad accident prone. Glad I don't play rugby anymore :lol::lol::lol:

Trials biking it one day.

Borrowed my mates bike.

I thought i could do this drop, meant me clearing a couple of ledges, and landing on another one. This bike had pedals on which didn't grip my kicks.

Balance at the top of the drop on the back wheel, getting my confidence up.

Pulse hop over, clear the gap, feet slip off pedals, tail bone goes onto the corner of a ledge. most pain i've ever felt, and i wasn't able to sit down for about 4 days.

that's the worst. Never broken a bone yet.. and i'm in my 20s.

I'm in my 50's now,but I still remember getting the stabilizers taken off my two wheel bike.I went to the top of a hill, started peddling really fast and shot down the hill.Halfway down I lost control and went skidding along the gravel on my Bum.Two weeks have now passed and it still stings ;)

Biggest - snapped my collar bone in two after a drunk stepped out in front of me when cycling home from work. Handlebars went straight into his gut, I went over the top of him. Didn't feel too bad and I was only 1/2 a mile from home so carried on but by the time I got home was feeling a bit sore. I rotated my arm and crack, snap, ping and I managed to break it all the way through. Also cracked a couple of ribs.

Most annoying - March (stress) fracture in my left foot. My job at the time meant I was on my feet for 7 hours a day and I just thought it was muscle pain. After 6 weeks I finally went and had it checked, I was slowly tearing the bone in two from the underside. Took about a year to fully heal.

Most bloody - fell off the end of my bed when I was a kid and caught my eyebrow on a little switch from my trainset. I cupped my hands to my eye and then looked at them, full of blood - I screamed and threw my hands in the air spraying the ceiling with blood. Trip to hospital for stitches but not before they gave me a local in my eyeball - mucho screaming

Most painful - Migraine, nothing even comes close to the it. Broken bones don't even register on the pain scale compared to a full on migraine.

Climbing over spiked fence as a child two cuts on leg one 6 inches long and 2 or 3 inches wide in an L shape, with many stitches and still a noticeable scar 35 years later. The smaller cut was very near the top of my leg and nearly made me a ladyboy :eek::eek:

Cut hand with chisel at school just a couple of stitches

Capsized out of kayak stitches needed in other leg

Eskimo rolled kayak and hit head on under water rocks (luckily had helmet on) stitch in corner of eye

Head wound at work glued this time.

Well those are the ones I remember.

No broken bones yet.

Three broken virbrae in neck, and disolated AC shoulder joint in a car acident 4.5 years ago or so when a women decided to concentrate on having an argument with her passenger and pulled straigh out into my path.

This weakened my shoulder to the point recently i suffered a complicated AC joint seperation with the ball of the shoulder being completely dislocated. Damaged vitually all the legiments in the back of shoulder, and minor nerve damage, causing painfull at times numbness in my hand, damaged rotar cuff and another couple of muscles i cant spell too. Trying not to have an op on it as i can not afford to the have the time of work, and the results are not garrenteed to fully sort the problems out.

some juicy ones here!, i was at work, picked up 2, 10ltr tubs of paint, stomach wall split and my bowels were portruding through and being strangulated, had 3 operations since to try and rectify it, and yes it hurt ever so slightly (winces now, and sheds a tear or two):'(

Was refitting the battery on my car one day. Tightening up one of the terminals when the back end of the spanner catches the other terminal. Ouch. Burnt hand, (I could see the name of the spanner manufacturer on the palm of my hand  ), and the spanner flew in the air, nearly taking my head off.

Another goaly injury. Was playing five a side with a few mates when one of the oppostion fired in a pretty fierce shot. I got my hand to it but not properly - the ball hit my fingers around the knuckles and snapped the hand back. No breaks but painful torn stuff. It was fun driving home after as I couldn't move my left hand at all and had to change gear with my right hand. Went to A&E in the morning. :)s

Just got over a really bad bout of sciatica, I'd gladly have put my leg on a chopping block for amputation if I had been offered, most painful thing I've had. A side effect from the painkillers gave me bad constipation, had to get local nurse in to put some stuff where the sun dont shine...christ" my ass took on a life of it's own , it was bloody horrendous I had no contol. :D

Used to play a fair bit of football and we had a cup game which was a bit competitive. The ball was in the air and I went up for a header and won it. Next thing I remember is looking up with a crowd of players looking down at me. Been knocked out by a member of the other team coming in late and connecting with the side of my head.

Carried on but by the end of the game my face was beginning to swell and by the time I got home I couldn't see out of my right eye. Up to the hospital, face is all swelled up, couldn't move my jaw, got x-rayed and told there's nothing wrong, just badly bruised, take a couple of aspirin.

Roll forward about three weeks and I get a call from the hospital. We've had another look at your x-ray and think you should come in. Then told I'd a fractured cheekbone, jaw and eye socket but because of the time taken to diagnose it it had already partially healed.

So, got taken into hospital, got cut across the top of the head from ear to ear, face peeled off so they could access the bits, re-broke everything and stuck it all back together with a pile of plates and screws and stapled the scalp together again.

not one photo :(

Apart from that, ruptured a couple of discs in my back, broken arm, broken toes (they still hurt) that's about it.

I know exactly what you mean, on all counts

i cut the tip of my ring finger with a circular saw, didnt cut it off, cut it longways up the finger, now i have a tender scar on my finger that looks really peachy when it gets dirty and you can see the damage!
