Yes
I've seen a few threads recently where people have asked which lens would fit in their current lineup and it got me wondering what the ultimate lineup would be.

So, if money was no object, what would yours be? and would it be for FF, Crop or Both? and what do you mainly shoot?

well iam happy with these for now canon efs 10-22 canon 24-105 L canon 100-400 L but always got the 600L in the back of my mind BURNNING away

Think I'm pretty lucky with what I have.

24-105, 100-400, 300/4, 500/4

By this afternoon I will have crop and FF. Tried an 800/5.6 the other week and it was too bulky for me.

Not just cost but ability to carry. I take that full kit around with me.

In a perfect world, I would add:

Zeiss 21mm ZE
Canon or Zeiss 50mm prime
Canon 100/2.8L IS macro

Paul

Money No Object, plus a couple of new ones added recently like the 800mm and a second hand 1200mm if I could find one.

2008-canon-ef-lens-collection.jpg

nikon 14-24 2.8
nikon 24-70 2.8 (i have)
nikon 60mm micro (i have)
nikon 105mm micro VR
nikon 85mm 1.4 (will have soon)
nikon 70-200 2.8 VR (i have)
nikon 200mm f2
nikon 200-400 f4

I consider I have a useful range of focal lenths:

10-20mm
18-55mm
28-105mm
70-200mm
70-300mm
60mm

Any changes I make will be to up quality rather than spread, but in no hurry, I get good results from this lot.

I'd quite like all the Canon lenses that benefit from a red line around them! Oh, and yes, the ones with the green line too. May as well......

i have the 18-55 kit lens that i would like to change for a 50mm prime and i have a 28-135 that i picked up this morning but to add to my collection i would love a 100-400is and maybe a 100/180 macro lens

I have the following lineup which I am reasonably happy with and use on FF.

Sigma 12-24
Canon 24-70L
Canon 85L
Sigma 105 Macro
Canon 135L
Tokina 300 f2.8 AT-X
1.4x & 2x Converters

Gives me coverage from 12mm to 840mm on FF

I am seriously considering buying a used 1DMk2 for the AF and 1.3 crop which will give me then 12mm - 1100 (AOV) across both cameras.

I would like to add a Canon 300 f/2.8 and a 600 f/4 but realistically it is not going to happen!
Other than that I have a really good setup for what I like to do and its one that will easily do other areas I may try later.

Being reasonable/realistic on what I could afford eventually
Canon 17-40 L
Canon 50 f1.8
Canon 24-105 L
Canon 70-200 2.8 L IS
Canon 300 f4 L

I have one of the lenses and am about to buy a 2nd.
I hope to have 3 of those by next Summer.
Canon 1.4x TC

I have what I class as a good line up now and am now getting out there and taking photo's instead of chasing that perfect lens that I think will be make things better.

Nikon D3

14-24mm f2.8
24-70mm f2.8
70-200mm f2.8
85mm f1.4

For me even deciding on 1 of these does my head in so to add more primes would drive me crazy

Similar to the above (FF user). I'd like to upgrade my 50mm to a 1.4 and add a 17-40 or a 24-70.

If you ask then I'd go for:

Canon 17-40mm
Canon 24-70 (which I own) OR 24-105mm f/4 - hopefully something new will come
Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 IS (need to upgrade)
Canon 50mm f/1.4 if / when they make a good one
Canon 85mm f/1.2
Canon 100mm L macro (need to upgrade)
Canon 135mm f/2
And something LOOOONG but hand-holdable (300mm f/2.8? f/4?, 400mm f/5.6?)

And obviously FF. 1Ds series body + 5D II backup would be nice.

Maybe also a hasselblad just to show off!

Now can I have some cash towards it please?!

to add to the 24-70 f/2.8 50 f/1.4 135 f/2 and 400mm f/2.8

The 85mm f/1.8 and the 35mm prime and the 600 f/4

First off.... Damn this thread for making me look at lens line ups and thinkging about buying them!

I'm pretty happy with what I use atm, I probably have too many:

Sigma 24-70 f2.8
Sigma 70-200 f2.8
Sigma 30 1.4
Sigma 50 1.4

I would like to upgrade the 24-70 to a canon 2.8L, the 50 to a canon 1.2L.
I would like to add a 85mm 1.2L and a 15mm fisheye to play with.
I hardly use the 70-200, i'll probably part company with it soon.

I am happy with current set up: Sigma 10-20, Canon 24-105L,
Canon 100-400L and can only dream of a 600:lol:

my ultimate line up (not a dream line up that ive no chance of getting, but a line up that is within my grasp, in say a few month of saving) what ive got, but id like to add a canon mp-e 65mm and twin flash to my set up, and maybe a 100 - 400 L lens (a little further off for that one)

Being a "Never Happy but content" kinda guy, here goes

HAVE - WOULD LIKE
17-40 f4 L , 16-35 f2.8 L
24-105 f4 L
70-200 f4 L , 70-200 f2.8is L
300 f4, 300 f2.8
Tamron 90 macro, EF 100 f2.8is L macro
500 f4 (probably will never happen)
100-400 (probably will happen sometime soon)

As I said I am more than content with my lot as I consider myself lucky to have what I have.

I'm kind of there....

Sigma 12-24mm
Sigma 24-70mm f2.8
Canon 70-200mm f.28 L IS
Canon 300mm f4 L IS
Canon 50mm f1.8
Canon 100mm macro
Canon 1.4x & 2x TC's - the 2x might get sold before too long mind as I never use it.

The set up above was chosen specifically so that if I go FF or even 1.3x crop in the future I wouldn't have to add the expense of new glass as well. I guess ideally I'd like to be able to change the Siggy 24-70 for the canon version - having said that I have been delighted with the IQ from the sigma version so....! The nifty 50 doesn't come out often, but when it does I remember how much I enjoy playing! Every now and then I hanker for a 100-400mm - I think there is still a fairly good chance I will invest in one in due course.

It would totally depend on what camera and sensor size I'd be teaming them up with...

... I'm still holding out for a 10-600mm f/2 that can be hand held ;)

I would be happy to sell a few organs if they made a 16-135mm constant f1.4L four stop IS and as sharp as the 135 f2L... I wonder how big that would need to be??? as for the cost:gag::'(:(:bang::bonk::shake::nuts::thinking::'(

I shoot landscape & birds so mine would be:
10-24mm (to get)
16-85mm (my walkaround)
70-300mm
300 f/2.8 (my workhorse)
500 f/4 (my dream!)
All Nikon naturally.:D

If I could stretch to a D700 as well then I would have to have the 14-24 f/2.8 and the 24-70 f/2.8 for the landscape and forget the 10-24.

Happy with what I have for now.
Canon EF500 f/4Lis used a lot
Canon EF300 f/4Lis used a hell of a lot.
Canon EF135 f/2L use it now and again
Canon EF85 f/1.2Lii rarely use it and may flog it one day
Canon EF70-200 f/2,8Lis not used a lot these days.
Canon EF70-200 f/4Lis wife uses this one.
Canon EF24-105 f/4Lis just for travel.
Canon EF24-70 f/2.8L lots of use
Canon EF16-35 f2.8Lii a fair bit of use

All Nikon full frames

17-35mm 2.8
24-70mm 2.8
70-200mm 2.8 VR II
400mm 2.8 VR
600mm f/4 VR
85mm 1.4
105mm 2.8 VR Micro

Hope that's not being to greedy

In a semi-realistic fashion (i.e. I might reach this point in 20yrs), for Canon FF body:

16-35/2.8L II
24-70/2.8L
70-200/2.8L IS

24/1.4L II
50/1.4
85/1.2L
135/2.0L

Silly long fast teles left out as I could never justify the cost for the amount I'd use them..
