What is your favourite lens??

85mm f/1.2 II. My favourite of all the lenses I've ever used. Chunky, heavy, slow to focus... but it's just soooooooo good.

This thread has really taken off....

Its interesting to see that although there are a large number of favourites the same types of lenses keep coming up.

I think it. All Boils down to A fAst lens.

I don't have a favourite as such. Over the years the one I've enjoyed using most of all has been the 85mm 1.4
Having said that, the Sigma 50mm 1.4 is catching up, although perhaps that's only because it's still relatively new to me.

What is your favourite lens??

Favourite for landscapes - 17-40 f/4
Favourite for candids - 70-200 f/2.8
Favourite for leaving on camera when out with kids etc - 24-70 f/2.8
Favourite new toy for playing with - 50 f/1.4

I keep finding myself using the 400 2.8 even when the Sigma 120-300 2.8 would be better suited. I love using that lens! :D

I must admit that it stops on the D300 a helluva lot since I got that Sigma Joe,cracking versatile lens......

The favourite is the 70-200mm f4, but the one that gets the most use is the 17-85mm, it's my 4X4 lens.

Not sure you can compare wide angle with telephoto as it's more to do with your shooting style than the actual lens.

I only have two lenses now (after having six at one time). 24-70L and 135L. Both are as good as it gets in their focal lengths.

I love the results of both of them. If pushed, the 135L is the lens that can perhaps surprise you a little bit more.

I love my Canon 28-135mm IS USM but really really really want a Canon 85mm f1.8 prime. Gotta get a nifty soon too!

If I post this today it is going to be the AFS 50mm f1.8D I might change this in the next few days when I get chance to take my Nikon AFS 24-70 f2.8 out for a play plus I haven't had chance to play with the 20mm f1.8 properly yet either :)

My 17-55 f2.8 IS USM. It's the dog's!

17-35 f/2.8 on one camera-body, 70-200 f/2.8 VR on the other camera body...
I guess about 99% of my shots are taken on those two lenses with about 70-30% towards the 17-35...

300mm f/4 L - never comes off my camera now.

The thread title is favourite Lens well my favourite Lens is one I dont own but my brother used to have an 85mm F1.2mm which was insane to use in Low Light and to be honest you have to 'use' it to understand just how good that Lens is

of my own line up I love my Canon 200mm F1.8 which is an amazing piece of glass but it is not my most used Lens - which is the Canon 24-70mm F2.8 which is so useful for a whole range of shooting subjects
my 2p

Canon 70-200/2.8 L
Just love this lens.
Dean:)

My current favorite lens is an old Nikon 28mm 2.8 AI-s. The focus ring is loose and it could probably benefit from a clean and relube. A little gem of a lens, it is sharper than a sharp thing.
Here is a recent photo taken with this lens.

Favorite lens at the moment from my somewhat limited supply is my
Canon 50mm 1.8 II the good old nifty, its the best bit of glass I own to date.

Canon 70-200mm F/4 IS. This is one of the most practical lenses I have owned, beautifully built, weather sealed, and sharper than just about any other consumer zoom ever made. I also like the 100-400 and 24-105 but nether match the IQ of the 70-200.

Impossible to choose between the two - but my favourite lens would be the ones in my eyes. Without them, all the bits of glass and metal would be a waste of time.

Its been really interesting to read your posts and to see what other photographers use. Like I metioned before my preferred lens is the 70-200 f2.8, the nifty is pretty cool and despite its limitations I often revert to the wide angle or use it on a second body.

My Tokina 12-24, although I don't get to use it as much as I like. I hate my Sigma 24-70 however, which unfortunately is the one I use most. :(

17-35 f/2.8 on one camera-body, 70-200 f/2.8 VR on the other camera body...
I guess about 99% of my shots are taken on those two lenses with about 70-30% towards the 17-35...

That's interesting, I would have put money on the 24-70 being used more than the 17-35... just goes to show

God how I love my 70-200 f2.8. In fact, I'd kill for another...
Just point who...

Runners up are 50mm f1.4 (but alas, tis mum's), and then the 17-55 f2.8.

The teleconverter on the long lens is nice as well.

I only have two, i like them equally, 16-35L and 50/1.4.

Getting a 24-70L in 2 weeks though, that will be my favourite lens !

Canon 600mm F4 i.s. for birding it's the best must be used with kirk gimbal head to get the best out of it. though i do like my other lenses almost as much seriously though i would not want to pick as i do such a varation of work
