What is your ambition, in terms of photography, at the moment?

I'm aiming to take better sports photos in all conditions. Sell more than I currently do and work regular tog for a team and get more published.
 
Mine would have to be to continue to grow the business, all the partnerships are in place and we are busy enough but it would be nice to grow it more.
 
To be able to regularly sell images.. even if they're just stock images.

To be able to get to better gig venues because the one I currently go to, the lighting is pure awful.

to be able to carry on doing what i'm doing now (shooting motorsport) without ****ing off the missus by being away every other weekend

thats not a joke either btw, but its also an impossible dream
 
To try to better myself each time I take the camera out, to think outside the box more & cut down on those moments where you get back to the PC, look through the photos and think "...why didn't I think to try THAT whilst I was stood there, that might have been a cracking shot".
 
To sell all my kit and buy two Canon 5D Mark II's or alternatively, retire all together and go travelling sans camera.
 
To stop thinking about the technicalties of the shot, to see the light (advice from another member on a thread recently:thumbs:) and enjoy taking pictures that I like and hopefully others will too.

that's it really, now I just need to do it:)
 
To make available the time, and put myself in the mood and location, to compose and shoot images that provoke a response in me. If they do the same to other people too, that's great.
 
to actually take decent pictures and be as good as some of the people on here.

aims for the next year or two:
1) do a course & read a few books so i know what im doing
2) practice like hell
3) do some portrait work/people pictures
4) get more equipment :lol:
 
Have a laugh and get me out of the house more, if I manage to get good at taking pictures, then that's a happy bonus. :)
 
I've only just started - and it's a damn sight (site?) harder than I thought!

I'd just be happy to take one and feel confident enough to put it up here for C&C!

I'd like to get in Ride BMX or Dig BMX magazine, doing a small review of me and my pictures like they do with some of the BMX pro toggers. I think i have a loooooonnnnggg way to go when i compare my pics with Steve Bancroft or Walter Pieringer:lol::lol::lol:
 
To make my living from doing my own photography work.

Giving up the day job and not answering to anyone (other then the misses) has always been a dream of mine, and if i can do that from my photography then ill be happy.

Then IF i manage that, then i want to make a living from my photography so that (future)wife can also give up work and just soley be my second shooter/assistant (I just want to be in charge for a change! haha!)
 
Just like to soak in as much info a I can from here and elsewhere to improve the basics.

Up until 6 months ago I hated photography. For years hubby was obsessed now he's lost all interest whereas I suddenly decided I wanted a new hobby. Had done a bit fo photography on a course at work, liked the fell of the camera and decided I wanted one.....

Hubby even sold all his old equipment (all film stuff) and gave me the money towards my 400d:)
 
Do the photo course I am on and put together "10 Quality Prints" and maybe another book.
When the end of year show is on if people look and go "I like that", "neat", "cool" etc then that ticks all my boxes.
 
I want to understand my Nikon D70 - and the instruction manual - so that I can take photographs properly. I'm getting bored of taking pictures at concerts where red lights are used and being totally unable to get anything even vaguely resembling the performer; instead they all look as if they have overdosed on tomatoes.
 
To finish in the top ten of POTY 2008.

Next year to do even better.

You are not the only one suffering there! Mind you, my weak hand meant I couldn't even hand-hold a 70-200VR, no way was I able to hold a camera and change the settings while looking through the view-finder.

With a lot of practice, I've managed to strengthen my hands a bit and am not very comfortable hand holding a camera, using manual focus, and I can adjust all the dials on the fly!

My only regret here is that a very few months ago I sold my 70-200VR thinking I would never be able to master it :shake: and bought a 70-300VR in its place :cuckoo:
 
Travel around with the RAF doing all their photography. It's never going to happen:(
The only other ambition is to do an air 2 air shoot with a fast jet:woot:

Me too! Though at the moment she's happy for me to do that.;)
 
I have been shooting since I was 8, but never did I do it for the money. In fact, being free from that obligation meant that I could do as I wished without any external obligation. I thoroughly enjoyed that freedom. The downside was that many friends and family members had often asked me to be the official photographer for their event, be it a graduation event, a wedding or an inauguration, I did not like being in that situation.

For now, I hope to keep developing my skills all the time; technology is bringing a whole new dimension to this “old” art and learning them, while still taking a good picture is time consuming, all be it fun.

An area that I feel bad for not putting any time into it is aviation! My father was a very senior military officer, that gave me many privileges when I was young, sadly I didn’t capitalise on that to build any portfolio of the aviation industry.

There are pieces of equipments that I would love to get my hands on while learning to use well. I have a few physical disabilities that have limited my abilities over the past 8 years, a lot of hard work has meant that some of these are now all gone, time to pickup and get heavier gear.

Now that I am in my 35th year, I am working to set-up my own gallery back home. I expect to have this up and running by end of 2009; I also plan to use my gallery to host other photographer’s work as well; this is my “early” retirement plans and not too sure if I am going to make much money from it or not.
 
Mine's ultimately to keep togging as a hobby, and at most a second job, but to have my own studio somewhere. I'd rather make money off running a rental studio and keeping photography as a hobby. Of course this is now, I'm only 23 and have a great deal of time ahead of me. I also have to think that in 17 years or so I'll be leaving the Army with plenty of time for a new career, so what then? Do I chance taking on togging as a pro at such an age? Or do I build up my rep and portfolio before then and make the transition from second job to self employed? All question are of course retorical, you never know where you'll end up! Just 8 years ago I was certain I wanted to be a professional theatre designer designing sets and lighting for west end shows and concerts! Amazing how things change isn't it?!
