Hey Guys,

I bet you've seen this a few times but I don't even know what to search for. What is this effect? I'm quite into car photography and some times I feel like I could really make my work more interesting with a similar effect:

Any help on what it is and/or how to do it would be ace!

Currently using Lightroom 4.

Cheers peeps.

Tom.

To be honest it looks to me like its just good use of lighting plus a high apeture for DoF, and some very basic tweeks in LR (contrast, Satuation maybe). Lighting is the key I think.

Also, think your beter off posting a link to the image rather than the image its self. Don't think the mods are too keen on people posting other peoples work directly...:)

Why one earth try to copy something so........? (Probably best not to use the word that springs to mind):D
It's "flat", it's got some pretty peculiar colouring (looks like a faded film print), messy, cluttered and distracting background, what looks like an oddly coloured grad filter... and not just one logo, but two...........
Stuff the pp. look at getting the photo "right" in the camera first.........

Exif in tact, will give you most of the clues how it was done (5d 85mm 1.2)

same as other people tho, i'm sure there are more inspiration car pictures out there!

Thanks for the help guys and in particular, Ben!

I did a little shoot of my own car yesterday and got some results very similar which I'm super happy with!!

To begin with they looked quite cold...

Got these results by reducing the blacks, boosting contrast and brightness a little and boosting the reds in the shadows.

Really chuffed. Thanks again!

I'm with the guys above. There's much more interesting and inspiring automotive photography out there.

Check out George Williams' stuff - http://www.gfwilliams.net/

This guy is a self-taught 20 year old who only turned this into a full time job a year ago and his stuff is incredible. You could sub in any other car and his photos would still be fantastic:
