I work shifts and live in a quiet suburb and never have any bother with neighbors, however at this time of year there is a contract gardener who does a few lawns hedges and gardens and he starts work at 7:15 am just when I am getting home and trying to get to bed . Some of the other neighbors have mentioned this to him but he has just laughed it off .

I could be wrong, and I'm sure someone will tell me, but isn't there a noise abatement order before 8am?
Not that really helps you though.

You could live near me, they start emptying bins from 5.30am and it's a right bloody noise. They tip all the glass bottles into the truck, then smash and crash the bins about. Trucks fly up and down the lane first thing in the morning, and drop deliveries of first thing in the early hours. Nobody seems to care any more :(

I took a video of the early morning antics, but got no place. It does my head in, when gardeners start mesing about with those bloody strimmers. Not to mention those stupid leaf blowers, they should be banned!

Bin men? 5.30am? Luxury. Our dad used to wake us up half an hour before we went to bed and make us lick the bins clean.....

8 days a week? getting up half an hour before you went to bed? And I bet you thanked him for it...

They shouldn't start noisy machinery before 8am (bin men notwithstanding).
You could report it, but after eight am, regardless of your shifts, not alot to be done :(

As said, you can't do anything about it after 8am. Fines can be up to £5,000. However, would you rather have him finished by the time your reach rem or would you prefer to be woken up when he starts later? Just think about what you will get.

Took this quick snap ( quick snap grab ) a couple of weeks ago. He parked right outside my window, you could hear the tail lift going up and down. The bins were banged and crashed, he then jet washed them out, creating an awful noise. This was 5.30am

Feel free to call me an ar$e, but many people work different patterns......... Seems like you are on shifts.. Does the noise you (your place of employment) keep the neighbours up? Some do, some don't.

Personal experience - worst nights sleep ever - blaggesd a upgrade to the honeymoon suite in a hotel in Stratford upon avon - above the bar and on the high st.. binners 5.30am, jeez, the roadsweeper at 4am had already woken me with the beep beep,ss.... My assumption from that was "honeymooners" would be doing other things than trying to get a nights kip...........

PM me your address - I'll send you some earplugs! I have a box of 200 pairs... stops me listening to the wife / going deaf whilst shooting things!

Think yourself lucky you didn't go on the TP Iceland trip in March. 10 days of no sleep at all. Even earplugs didn't block the night long racket coming from the adjacent bed!

Move House, in all seriousness me and the wife are planning a move in the next few years, find a nice place off the track a bit for this reason.
We don't have those kind of noise problems as we live in a small village but we are on one of its few main roads which has increased in volume a lot over the last 10 years.

I know how you feel I work nights too
Not much can be done but I do wear earplugs the wax ones called quies are very good

Holes? Holes? We used to dream of sleeping in a hole in the ground. We had to sleep in a cast-off flip-flop in a sewage drainage ditch. A hole would have been like a vi-sprung divan suite to us!

According to my council, "There are no restrictions for home improvements, or any other form of noise"

Pros make sure. Overkill is still dead.
One of my all time favourites ...
Question:
How do you tell the difference between a British Police Officer,
an Australian Police Officer and an American Police Officer?

Answer: Pose the following question:

You're on duty by yourself walking down a deserted street.
Suddenly, a dangerous looking man with a huge knife comes around the corner, locks eyes with you, screams obscenities, raises the knife, and charges at you.
You are carrying a Glock .40, and you are an expert shot.
You have mere seconds before he reaches you. What do you do?

British Officers Answer:
Well, that's not enough information to answer the question!
There is the Human Rights Act to consider!
Does the man look poor or oppressed?
Is he newly arrived in this country and does not yet understand the law?
Have I ever done anything to him that would inspire him to attack?
Am I dressed provocatively?
Could I run away?
Could I possibly swing the gun like a club and knock the knife out of his hand?
What does the law say about this situation?
Does the Glock have appropriate safety built into it?
Why am I carrying a loaded gun anyway, and what kind of message does this send to society?
Does he definitely want to kill me, or would he be content just to wound me?
If I were to grab his knees and hold on, would he still want to stab and kill me?
If I raise my gun and he turns and runs away, do I get blamed if he falls over, knocks his head and kills himself? .
If I shoot and wound him, and lose the subsequent court case, does he have the opportunity to sue me, cost me my job, my credibility and the loss of my family home?

Australian Officers Answer:
Bang!

American Officers Answer:
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

Sergeant at scene later: 'Nice grouping!

Or the Alternate red neck ( wife) answer ..

BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! Click....
(sounds of reloading)

BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! click

Daughter: 'Nice grouping, Daddy! Were those the Winchester Silver Tips or Hollow Points?'

Son: 'You got him, Pop! Can I shoot the next one?'

Wife: 'You are not taking that to the taxidermist !

Perhaps the gardener has been woken by the bin men,and thought sod it now I am up I might as well start work.

A true pro always double taps.....
I agree its a damned site quicker to get another round off, to be sure, than to think was that in the K-Zone?

I believe they also reccomend it in the regiment to avoid reactive return fire, not sure you worry about armed response *imagines armed vermin waiting in ambush* ;)
