What is a photography club for?

TP is not a club.

Maybe not in name but in pretty much every other aspect it is precisely that.

It is a place (albeit virtual) where members come together to discuss and share a common interest ... how is that not a club?

And all these people in camera clubs with their digital cameras all have a light meter? Ah yes...the one inside their light box :p

DIVA! ;)

If its a studio nite, they should have a light meter for the lights - we do. I have one for my own studio lights. Otherwise its not teaching anyone anything. In our club, only a small proportion of the members are interested in portraits enough to want to try studio. If they do, fine, but if not they are not villified. But I learned from a course the very first time I did anything like that.

dependson your definition - I don't consider TP to be a club - just because you discuss somthing does not make your group a club.

Virtually any digital camera with psam settings can be used as a light meter.
not a flash meter perhaps.

if you want to learn

1) read and watch - plenty of info online for both shooting and post processing

2) practice - digital free

most camera clubs will suck your soul dry and just make you think like the old bearded men that attend them
