Came back off a course 10 days ago, inside my bag was a Jessops catolog.

Some items were ringed ( by the sales rep ),,,, one of which was a 2 x converter..... so, she orders me a AF-S TELECONVERTER TC-20E II as a early fathers day prezzie ( as i'll be away on the day ). it came from SIMPLY ELECTRONICS / Amazon
Having just got in and opened it to give it a try, it doesn't seem to fit.

Am i doing something wrong ?
Has she bought a red herring ? £ 229.90 down the drain

Do i need to get another lens,,, ( see my signature )

many thanks in advance

Andy

Andy,

The Nikon website states that the TC is designed for the AF-I and AF-S lens collection. The 18-55 is an AF-S lens but the 70-300 is just an AF lens.

Were you trying the TC with the 70-300 ???

Thanks,

Adam.

Haved tried it with both len's and no joy..... looks like it may have to go back :shake:

If I am not mistaken, none of the new Nikon TCs work with your lens range! Check the documentations that came with your leses and the TC to be double sure.

I see your 18-55 is an AF-S, but that does not mean it workd ... even the very expensive AF-S 24-70 doesn't support these TCs!

So, be careful how you try these out and you could get a situation where the elements of the TC and your lens could grind together causes lens damage.

To be honest Andy, even if it had fitted, the 1.4 and 1.7 seem to be favoured better for loss of image quality.
It was a lovely gesture that your wife did. Thats not a small amount for Fathers Day.
