Woke up this morning and turned my PC on to find that my monitor is displaying like so:

Basically it has gone all "bitty" and the colours are all wrong.

What has happened/how can I remedy this?

is it like that all through boot up or just in windows?

things to try:

1) new cable
2) if you have access to another machine plug the screen in to that and see if the problem remains

Boot up is fine, it is only once Windows loads up. Which is slightly reassuring. Unfortunately I haven't got access to another PC to try it on but the fact that boot up is alright suggests it isn't an issue with the monitor, doesn't it?

Video card looks like its buggered to me. When windows starts up it drives the card different to boot up. I get this on some machines I work on where the screen just blanks as it starts in windows.

Ps love what it says in the corner of your screen lol

:shake:

I was hoping it wouldn't be the GPU. Less than 12 months old so it will be a warranty job (I hope!) but a bloody expensive piece of kit to be faulty already. Nuisance.

Nowt to do with this problem.

My guess would be the graphics card if your drivers are up to date.

I'd try booting from a linux cd or other windows cd to exclude a software issue with that windows installation. Also try plugging something else into that monitor to exclude the monitor itself.

If it is under 12 months old then it's time to contact the retailer and let them sort it.
