Why use your name? When your website is built you put keywords on your site which, if some match your website title, has a positive effect on your rankings in google etc. Unless someone specifically keys into google "Paul Bennet Photography" then your domain name doesn't help at all.
1084photo may seem random, and you may have difficulty improving your google rankings with that too, but it is a hundred times more original than using your name. And that is what will stick in peoples mind.

www.Brian Glover-Smith.co.uk. Bit of a mouthful isnt it - and not really memorable either. No wonder he changed it to www.thisisventure.co.uk.

You can't seriously believe that anyone would remember 1084photo :cuckoo:

They remember names or brand names. Venture became a brand name, and Paul Bennett is easy enough to remember if you've had anything to do with him, but 1084photo... never IMHO

It's open to different interpretations and how you look at the psychology of visitors to your site I suppose. Interestingly enough I note that you haven't used your own name for your website, what was the reasoning behind that because I am intrigued now! :naughty:

Nothing wrong with being intrigued mate :D

For a similar reason to Venture, I set everything up with a long future and various plans around developing a brand that I could build on with other interests & photographers :)

A bit like 'Sophotogenic' maybe ;)
