What happened to the second hand market?!

Seeing as it's a buyer's market, I'm going to see if I can get a used 18-35mm. That way, if I use it with my 24-85mm VR and 70-300mm VR, I have a lightweight alternative to the 16-35mm and 24-70mm (or 24-120mm). In fact, by my calculations, my camera bag will be 810g lighter, and only 60g heavier than the equivalent D500 gear. Then I can just suck it and see what happens over the next few months.

Make sure it's the G version of the 18-35mm, the original AF-D isn't great.
