Hi everyone,

Theres been alot of threads cropping up with people mentioning their guitars. I just wanted to see what everyone is playing and hopefully get some interesting results. I play bass but i own a squire strat :D !

So what have you got....

Dave

I have an Ibanez which I bought in a rush of enthusiasm about 3 years ago, shortly followed by an Ovation acoustic/electric. The Ovation makes a great sound but it kills me to play it - mucho harder than the Ibanez.

Not getting used much of late, but they look great on the wall. :D

american strat in cocoa stain, its bloody lovely, shame i cant play it too well!

ive also got a cheap acoustic but i lent that to my boss!

ive also got an ibanez bass which i swapped with my sister for a £20 note!

I WANT SOME TALENT AND A LES PAUL THOUGH!

I have a tele and strat, love 'em both. Don't make me choose!

Cheers,
James

As David at the top, I'm also a bass player, so will report on my basses.
I have a '62 USA Fender Precision in Fiesta Red
'77 Jazz bass in Natural with maple neck
and a status S2 classic 5 string.
Oh And I've got an epiphone J200 copy acoustic.
On occasions I get a Burns Marvin bass to play, but burns wont let me keep it, despite given our guitarist a 6 string version.
MY claim to fame would be to touch and be offered a play of the first fender strat that came in this country, currently owned by Bruce Welch.

Currently using a black beauty (Gibson Les Paul Custom, Nashville Plant, TN, USA, January 2nd 2001 Production Number: 16 :p )

I doubt i will ever sell it or replace it. I love it to bits.

I have a Freshman 400D Jumbo, a Dean resonator, a Tanglewood electro acoustic (v nice), Yamaha electric and an Amiraz spanish guitar. My Les paul standard has gone to make way for computer equipment. Oh and a rather swanky 6 string ukelele otherwise known as a guitarelele (It looks like a midget's spanish guitar) and is completely playable as a guitar (but it is physically impossible to play some cords!)

Gibson SG here, love it!

cheapo chinese ibanez clone
Fender Strat(mexico flavour)
Yamaha Acoustic...all unplayed and pristine

1) Fender Strat ( Candy red )
2) Ibanez ( Electric Blue )
3) Keiper Bass ( Natural red )
4) Hohner (Les Paul style in Gold)
5) Electro Acoustic
6) 3/4 Acoustic

Also Marshall & Peavey Amps

I've got a Squire strat and a 12 string Gibson 335 copy but it's a real swine to keep in tune. I think I'll have to modify it and strengthen the neck. Unfortunately they're both in the UK and all I've got here is a locally made Flamenco style thing with a neck you could hang an anchor on. Still it keeps my fingers moving what with all the building work I do.

I`m limited by the fact I`m a southpaw.....

Gibson LP Studio
Ibanez 120L
Ibanex 430L
Yamaha APX-5
Strat copy
and another dog of an acoustic.

Used to have lots of good vintage guitars ('62 Gretch White Princess, '65 Gibson SG, '67 Rickenbacker 330 fireglow...) but sold them. Too many hobbies can be too expensive!

Now I only have a Gibson Epiphone (Sheraton 244) Semi
and an Ovation celebrity Acoustic (which I tinker with most days).

I don't own one personally, but I got accused of 'making' my other half buy one of these:

I have a Tacoma Thunderchief Fretless, made from lots of lovely exotic woods with a fishman ceramicy pickup thingy.... And one that's flat, red and cheap. Plays nice though.

Oh.. and you were doing so well but you've just blown your cool credentials

(unless you mean that the Vulcan Elder played by Celia Lovsky in the 1967 Star Trek episode "Amok Time" owned it - in which case you gain maximum geek points)

well the truth of this sad tale was that my uncle was T'Pau's sound engineer on tour back in the day and they gave him the Strat as a thank you

one of my friends is a nephew of Leonard Nimoy

I know someone with a 50th Anniversary Taylor, electro accoustic, left handed, That is a nice guitar!

Ah, now this is the thread to ask a question on I think.

My 13 yr old daughter started playing guitar at primary school. Since moving to secondary school, she hasn't had any lessons [they are extra curicular and she does so much stuff she hasnt had time] but she plans to chose music for a GCSE subject and has continued to play her aging [accoustic, spanish guitar??] almost every day, getting hold of music and teaching herself to play them.
So, for christmas she wants an electric guitar, so here is the question. We have a budget of a couple of hundred pounds to buy it and and amp, what would you guitar players recommend as good starter kit? She wants something that looks cool [so shiny black, or zingy colours] and I pressume size matters, so I should mention she is only 4'8" tall, so hasnt got very long arms. I have never played and its some 30 years since Mr LL bought a guitar, so any advice would be much appreciated. please. :D

Check out the Yamaha Pacifica range. They're often recommended as a great beginners guitar and you could spend a lot more dosh before you got one that sounded or played significantly better.

I've got:
Epiphone SG (Cherry red)
Epiphone Les Paul (Standard sunburst)
Yamaha Electric Acoustic (can't remember the model)
Crafter acoustic (Big ass dreadnought one)
Couple of throwaround acoustics from GM music in Cardiff, can't remember the makes.

Aria 6 string dreadnought.
Encore Les Paul Electric
And my favourite is my Greg Barnnett electro coustic. Pics below
