It's that time of year again :bonk:

I'd like to get my nephew a gaming chair to go with his X-box. Do you have any experience of these, and what would you recommend?

Budget is up to £150

Thanks in advance for your advice and suggestions

£150 !!!!!!!!!

buy them a bike to get them up and out away from the computers and TV's

or even a camera!!!!

i see you're in MK take them to airkix for an indoor skydive instead, i refuse to by my kids gaming consoles and the like, and prefer to spent the time out doing things where possible.

doesn't help when you see things like these in the news!!

Save your cash. Sit them on a dining chair and shake the chair as the need arises same thing but cheaper and a lot more fun for you.:D

Not so much fun is cleaning the tv screen off of all the turkey and sprouts he just spewed up :gag:

I don't think it does them any harm having a gaming console if used in moderation and balanced with other activities. My two have an Xbox and PS3 but also play a lot of sport and in the summer the younger one is always out on his bike and climbing trees etc. Neither have an issues with weight.

the guy wants to buy his nephew a gaming chair, not a sky dive, he's not looking for alternatives, he's looking for recomendations.

what exactly do these gaming chairs give you by the way?

My kids have a couple of consoles too. They do well at school. They are not clinically obese. They have active social lives. They do outdoor activities and sports. Moderation is the key.

Presumably comfort and good support? Maybe geared for gaming in terms of using joystick/controllers and/or steering wheel controls? I need a new office style chair so watching thread with interest. ;)

I do not think they will double up as a great office chair.

To OP check out this link should give you a few good ideas in your price range

We got the eldest an X-Rocker one from Argos last year for Christmas, paid about £60. One thing I would think about though is getting the adult sized one as the junior one when we looked at it we thought our 16yo although on the smaller side would be too big for it within a few months and we we correct in this assumption

"Gaming chairs"....really?

And the problem is.....?

Some people like gaming.
Some people like football.
Some people like photography.

Some people like all of the above.
Little bit hypocritical on a forum where the majority are obsessed with getting more and more expensive camera gear they come out with something like this!

I personally have no experience of gaming chairs, I have a very lovely leather recliner for all my xbox needs :D

The old bit of me can't help thinking it must be great to be a kid nowadays :)

The other bit of me thinks poor b****r, what is he going to have to get his kids in the future :D

11 Year old...pah! we all know it's for yourself.

I've gone for the X Rocker. Thanks everyone for your suggestions. Very much appreciated

Good choice - we've got one in the cabin.
Basically they have speakers at the top and a reasonable subwoofer at the base of your spine to add impact.
