Im thinking of buying a flashgun for my first dslr and i am swaying towards the nikon sb400! Seems a good price as it will be my first flashgun and i have never used one before! Wanting it for filling in flash for portrait work mainly but will be playing around in other area's! Any help on what i should get? Is the nikon SB400 good or bad??
Help please!!

Thanks Stuart

Don't bother with the SB-400 as it's a very basic flash for those who only do a bit of fill lighting which you yourself admitted that you want to get into portrait work and play around so I would recommend the SB-600 or a third party flashgun such as the Jessops 360AFD or Nissin 622 etc.

I have seen the nissin 622 and it seems a good price! Better than the sb400 you think aswell.... Might be the best bet then!!

Or you could also have a look at the yongnuo flashguns, much cheaper and you could possibly afford the RF602 radio triggers... Lightstands etc... Not going to get the use of the Nikon crative Lighting sytem on a budget.

It may well be worth waiting on the SB700 or splash a bit extra for the 900..

Thanks for the advise!

I have three SB-900s I know theyre out of your price range but they are epic compared to any other.
