Yes
I get the impression from some here that photography is your life (nothing wrong in that I may add!). Prove me wrong and tell me what your other hobbies are!

I do like a bit of variety so I do persue other hobbies. My main one has to be scale model heavy good vehicles. These are build in 1/24 scale from plastic kits, but with conversion parts or scratchbuilding.

This is one I customised with artwork made up from my wedding photos:

This one was built as part of Truck Model World magazine's 'group build' where the challenge was to make something from a Mercedes-Benz Actros kit - to see how different the models could be. This was my version:

I am also starting to dabble in Radio Control. This was my first effort in 1/14 scale:

I've always wanted a trainset, but our house simply isn't big enough, so to make up for it I'm working on a 00-scale diorama setting of a main road with a railway bridge. The aim of this is to transport to shows, hence it's quite small and made from lightweight materials:

I also like going to concerts. My personal fave is Jools and his band with their open air concerts - usually in Thetford Forest where this was taken during the summer:

I like taking things apart but I prefer photography, it has so many different sides and facets that theres always something new and interesting to shoot

For me it's sports. I box regularly and I play football up to three times a week for two teams. Besides that, there's a lot of drinking and a lot of reading of all sorts of books and newspapers. Then I spend a lot of time learning languages and now I'm spending a lot of time looking at getting into skiing and planning a year abroad next year.

Ah, the luxuries of being a student.

hmmm apart from playing snooker a few times a week and football it's pretty much photography for me, well when im not away working :bang: then its eat, work, sleep, eat work, sleep :(

I have a wife and 7 kids... how many hrs do you think there are in a day? :) :) :)

Wow - Those models are really impressive Chris

There are quite a lot of other hobbies for me . . .

I keep tropical fish and also have a decent sized garden pond.
I love crafting - handmade cards, quilling, origami etc
I also enjoy oil painting and water colours.
Not sure if this counts as a hobby, but it's very rewarding - I also do a voluntary role for a national charity.

The one thing that I'd love to do, if I had the time and money, is to take flying lessons - but that's just a dream at the moment.

Now if I just didn't have to do my day job and could spend as much time as I wanted on these. . .

oh yeah forgot that I tech audio for the uni radio station not rally a hobby but it takes my time up

I also cave, though if I get to have a go at cave photography .............

Cycling for the past 20 odd years which pretty much took up all of me free time out of work and family. Photography only in the last 18 months or so.
I like my music, movies, darts and gettin cained on the 360 by my lad.

I just got into photography but my other hobbys are, Motorcycles , love my track days too.

A nice game of golf one in a while but it seems like the camera is taking alot of my time these days.

Spike

I run a ghost hunting group called Surrey Paranormal [ www.surreyparanormal.co.uk ] which is proving to be huge fun and very interesting.

I am also restoring a Mk3 Mini. I have a looooong way to go but it's enjoyable.

I have a few other pastimes, including reading, coooking and walking. However the other serious one, aside to photography, is scooters. I restore and ride classic scooters, currently a Lambretta GP. However as we have moved house this year, the scooter has taken a backseat and is currently desparately in need of some TLC.

Chris, that diaroma (photo No 4) actually had the effect of making me look twice as I really thought it was the real thing! And that's something coming out of me as one of my "old" passion was model railways. Brilliant work!
When I said "old", it's something I got into when I was younger but lack of space, time and money meant that I'm not into it as much these days. But I still have a soft spot for it.
But I still have two other passions apart from photography (which is something I've been into for only about five years anyway). The main one is cartoon drawing - which some of you will have already noticed here in TP. The other thing I've been into for years is meteorology, again, something some of you will have already worked out. Actually, talking about that, three days ago, it was 30 years ago on that day I started doing written weather records!
I also got into computer technology and like to think I've became quite adept at it, but after years of people asking me to fix their PCs or asking me what's wrong with it, I'm phasing that hobby out. Felt it was too much of a thankless hassle and was causing more headache than it's worth. I just want to play with PC's, not fix them for free!

Photography for me is a way of recording my other hobbies which are all based around travelling and wildlife.

I crew on tall ships for a few weeks a year, hopefully increasing on that as I get the time and the qualifications. When not sailing I love visiting new places on land, and I'm very keen on safaris.

i used to race RC cars, made it onto the UK team and raced 2 world championships and a euro's.
I bought the camera to use at race meetings, then ran out of time and money for the RC stuff.

I'm looking to get back into it though this year. The on road worlds are in the UK in 2012 so I want to try and qualify for that.

My father in law has just sold his early 1960's Lambretta, he bought it new when he came to England, it was a minter.

Sailing is my other one...going to races etc. And looking at stuff on ebay!

my intrest in motorsport and cars is what got me into photography. I love to spend time tinkering with my car, washing it, repsraying bits etc. Also love to do trackdays and hoon around Oulton Park in both my car and other peoples (passenger).

Also collect lots of motorsport memrobilia. I have got Paul O Neils front bumper off his BTCC car and a Leon Camier garage sign from the last round of the BSB plus 100s of programs from events

SAILING cycling

I'm rubbish at it but i really like playing the guitar esp the white stripes

Well as you can tell from my photography I love motorsport, and, similar to Mr Sayle, my love of photography came from my love of motorsport. I love a good read, and this year I want to start walking, to help my weight loss drive and as something more productive to do of a weekend.

I go slot car racing! Same scale as Scalextric (1/32), just a different make and we do it on wood not plastic :D

Cars and motorcycling for me. Into my trackdays and I'm racing in Rookie 600s this year. Also do Airfix from time to time, although that tends to happen more in the winter when I'm not out on the bike.

Motorsport: involved in racing a F3 car

Car Restoration: restoring a Lancia Montecarlo for track day use. Also was given a Toyota MR2 last year

Theatre: do sound and lights and set building for various groups.

All of which have complimented photography very well.

Lot's of motoring interest on here. I'm another one. Tinkering with and, more importantly, driving my S2000.

I also play snooker, play guitar (and learning banjo), origami, and dabble with card magic occasionally. Photography has only just become a main hobby, but it is starting to take over the others in terms of time spent doing it.

Motorsport. I have a Singer Chamois (Hillman Imp with walnut trim) for trialling and a Davrian (Imp based kit car on slicks) for sprints and hillclimbs. Do all the work on the cars myself. Also marshal and hold a clerks licence for speed events.

Also have a 4wd VW T25 Caravelle van for towing the Davrian to events and a sensible car for the daily commute (Boxster S). So you might say I'm a bit of a car enthusiast, but not for things with the engine at the front :D.

work part time at a rallyschool, more of a hobby than a job, but get paid to scare the living daylights out of people who think front wheel drive cars don't go sideways!!

rallying is my major hobby, marshalled (once), competed on 30 events in a year when 16, driven 4 times but ran out of money and showed an amazing lack of natural talent! rallying got me into photography

skiing/boarding- very expensive

bizarrely- cocktails.. worked as head barman in a club in cheltenham for a year, ran the cocktail bar, still thinking and making different things all the time, some work well, some certainly don't

shooting (stalking, lamping etc, no clay pidgeon rubbish)

hunting, an official 'follower' on a quad, duties that shouldn't be posted here! LOL

used to play abit of golf to a 9 handicap, sold my clubs to fund more photography, shouldn't have really!

general sports, although not so much now- hockey to county u16 & u-18, rugby very competitive schols level then was said to be 'too small' (6ft, 11 stone) for fly half, cricket- just my local village team.

Photography is my main hobby since getting rid of the motorbike a couple of years ago. I'm competition sec for our tog club, so that takes up time every now and then.

I also like to indulge in painting and sewing when I get time.
And cookery - I have a book sort of written.

Oh, and I've decided to learn to play bass, so this is my year for trying to be more disciplined with my time.

i go to a lot of gigs too.
admitedly my camera acompanies me to a lot of gigs, but i go even when i cant take a camera.
last night it was Live/wire.
An incredible AC/DC tribute band.

and, erm, yes, the camera went with me.

oh, and i help out, a bit, at online radio station mansfield radio. www.mansfieldradio.org.uk (shameless plug).

I like to knit. Admittedly, I knit badly and can't do anything other than a long 'line' of knitting (although I can do knit and pearl - or whatever). So, I knit a lot of scarves. I don't know many people who want to wear my scarves so I unravel them and start again. This is NOT a basket making nut-case talking, it just keeps my hands occupied!

Sometimes I do French Knitting (the Knitting Nancy stuff from when I was a kid). Sadly, I can't do much with that either so end up with loads of crap that I throw away.

PSA to anyone with a cat....do NOT let them at your wool - it can be NASTY :gag:

I tried scrapbooking but realised it's not for me, both for cost and for creativity - any 'layouts' now are pretty minimal in terms of all the embellishments that people use (which, from some of what I have seen over many forums is their to hide a pretty crap photo') and the sites are too family-centric for me. I don't have kids and don't like to look at other people's kids as a hobby.

I also work. A lot.

Watching Motorsport at various south England tracks which led to the interst in photography. Always scouring ebay as I also collect motorsport memorabilia usually something to do with Mondeo's and their involvement in the BTCC. I have collected a team coat from every year 93 through to 2000 when the Mondeo's raced (I have three 2000 coats) I also have a pit crew shirt from each season, probably about 6 from the 99/2000 season. I very nearly bought a 99 Mondeo race car rolling shell last year, the only thing that stopped me was lack of storage space :(.
I'm in the gym, weight training for an hour minimum, six days a week, cardio 3-4 times per week.

My other main hobby is my car: I've been slowly making changes to it over the last couple of years and I take it to shows, and it's also been used as a wedding car. I also love cars, motorsport and driving in general.

Art: I enjoy collecting art materials with the intention of using them, them putting them away in a 'safe place'. I've been doing this for a number of years now. This is the year I'm determined to actually do something with them (but then I said this at the start of 2009, 2008, 2007 ... )

Writing: I'm currently writing a couple of novels that keeps me busy when it's raining/snowing and I can't go out and clean the car.

Photgraphy is my only hobby before that i didnt really have one and decided i wanted somthing creative that i enjoyed so here i am - im a film buff as well but other then that its work and kids!

The lorries look fantastic by the way :)
