That would be the Minolta "Drunken Photographer M1000" :exit:

ermm..yes..I could be entirely 110% correct here but i dont recall any DSLR being able to use Film.
So i now ask the question...How many on here have actually broken their DSLR's trying to put rolls of film in it..:):)

Lol!! Thanks.

Yes I did post this yesterday with no success so I copied, pasted and changed the title but forgot to take out the films!! Told you I was a newbie!!

It might help if you mentioned at least with the Sigma lens which mount it is for.

That would be because I dont know. It was a camera and kit I found in the attic which belongs to my OH who hasnt much of a clue due to that fact its been there for a few years and hes getting on a bit:lol:

I can take pics of said kit but am I allowed to post it on here? Might make it easier as I only listed what is on the side of all the lenses.

I know Nothing!!!

If my memory serves me correctly Minolta went out of business about 2 years ago. So if that Sigma lens fits a Minolta camera that would be the mount for it. I don't think any other camera make would have those lenses to fit. Ah found it the link saying they had stopped

http://www.konicaminolta.co.uk/index.php?id=8115

Apart from keeping the filters if they are screw in types I would be looking to try and sell them all and replace with one of the leading makes ie Nikon-Canon etc.

As the camera you have is film people going on photograpic courses often need film cameras for part of the course, so advertising on their notice board may be a good way of selling, just a thought if you took that route.

I assume..and I only assume here..but I could be wrong, that since everything else is minolta, there is a fair to middling chance that the sigma is going to be a minolta mount

erm...

Minolta was bought out by Sony, and the 'A' mount system used by Minolta since 1985 is compatible with all the Sony dSLR's (or did you skip my post above?), Sony may not have the long standing name in the SLR market but imo they've made themselves very worthy contenders with their current lineup, and overlooking them because Canon and Nikon are 'the leading brands' would be foolish. And for anyone who wants to say about the lack of lenses available for the Sony - you have 28 years worth of lenses which can be had for a steal on ebay - the Minolta Maxxum 7000 was the first camera to introduce the AF system in 1985, leaving Nikon, Pentax and Canon without a proper answer for 3 years, and the lenses that fitted on the 7000 are still compatible with todays cameras.
If you're still unsure, have a peruse at some pictures taken with the 'beercan' 70-210mm lens:
http://www.dyxum.com/dforum/forum_posts.asp?TID=11307&PN=1

I would say the Sony cameras have a pretty decent heritage

OP, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the lenses you've got (well, that silver 75-300mm could go on ebay I suppose - its not that great ;)), I would wholeheartedly suggest you nip down to jessops and hold a Sony A200 or A300, see if you like it. If you do, the A200 can be had for about £250, and the A300 can be had for £300 body only (since you've already got a few lenses)

If it is an A mount AF lens, then just all the current Sony range. If the OP can let us know the exact camera model and the white writing around each lens, then it will be easier to identify them.

As I said in my posting quote " I don't think any other camera make would have those lenses to fit." unquote. I didn't know about Sony as I don't have one.

Minolta was bought out by Konica, hence being called KonicaMinolta Not as Timmy says quote "Minolta was bought out by Sony," unquote.

Righty ho..this is what is on the lenses, and Ill even take a photo of the big sigma lens too if that will help:lol:

*Minolta AF zoom 75-300mm 1:4.5(32)-5.6 (think this is the one thats supposed to go on ebay!!)

*Minolta AF zoom 28-80mm 1:3.5 (22)-5.6 (also says...0.39m/1.3ft MACRO)

*Sigma 70-200mm 1:2.8 APO...(its quite big and heavy, if that makes any difference!!)

*Minolta Mx-AF 2X teleplus mc

You might have quite a good Sigma there.

It sounds like either this one -
http://www.dyxum.com/lenses/detail.asp?IDLens=195
or this one -
http://www.dyxum.com/lenses/detail.asp?IDLens=141

Both get quite good Dyxum scores. Have a look at the pictures and try and work out which one it is.

Be careful with the flash, some older units can have a trigger voltage that is to high for digital cameras. Investigate it well before using it on any digital camera.

But now that Minolta have gone, their stuff is worthless, especially any "Sigma" lenses that may fit....

But being the kind person that I am, I will gladly offer you £20.00 for the lot if you include postage too

HTH

Realspeed

Yeah, Yeah.

And as Timmy says they were then bought by Sony who used the KM DSLR as the basis for the A series.

All that kit will work on a sony A series as already mentioned. The Sigma in particular is a good quality lens. You would be mad to flog that lot and replace with Nikon/Canon.

The funny shaped thing by way is a lens hood :) thats my technical bit in :)

Most of the time that the lens is fitted to the camera..

Its main function is to stop direct sunlight (or other bright light) falling on the front element of the lens. This causes flare which can reduce contrast (at best) or cause odd spots in the image (due to that light getting reflected between the individual elements in the lens). Its secondary function is to provide a little extra protection against knocks and fingerprints to the front element.
