OK so I have had two WRONG remote release cords sent now
Re this thread

the first was a round multi-pin connector, the second was more eliptical with 3 pin holes,
The hole / socket in the camera (under a flap with a "remote release sign")
is round with 3 pins. Now I am sure that I am not trying to shove anything in the wrong hole, but when sent two wrong items it makes you stop and think a little. I am right aren't I?

I will take a shot of my end Chris!! on my remote cord... give me a moment!

This is mine, Chris. Not round but has a bit out of one edge.

Thanks Janice
I will not make any comment whatsoever about the title
and you being the 1st to respond :D because I am Very glad you did. that looks absolutely nothing like the two I have received so far :bang: and now I know I am not trying to shove something where I shouldn't.
The guy is a total plonker, if you don't mind I will email him the picture I will add a link to your site on there before I do
Cheers

Just save it and email it Chris... no probs.

If it's any help, I think the 1D, 1DS, 20, 30 and 40Ds all use the same pin patterns, as seen in the pic posted by Janice, so maybe the guy has one of the above and can match it up....

Cheers

This is part of the ad,
Remote Switch fits Canon EOS 10D 20D 30D D30 40D 1D 5D
and he still couldn't get it right :bang:
So I guess there are a lot of peed of people out there

I guess there are. As you can see you cant just plug it in any old way... has to be just the one way. So it will HAVE to have a flat bit on one edge.

Just check on your 40d for your own piece of mind that your socket has that flat side.

My end is the same as Janice's. I got mine from ebay, I'll dig out the seller and pm you if you get really hacked off with your one.
