No
i was in Asda the other day and for the first time i went a bit further down the aisle from just looking at car mags.
i got as far as the books that were for sale.

it was very interesting to see that nearly all the most popular non fiction books were all about either murderers, paedophiles or their victims.
so many books had also been written by non celebrity people who were abused as kids and now telling their story.

Hmmm

I`ve got loads of real crime books, I`m not a psycopath in training! I love `em!

True crime is awesome! As wrong as that sounds, but it is :D

How did you get past T3?

Also... Those books are written for a statical analysis of the market...

Kinda interesting, it's like a literary version of reality TV shows.

It's sooo much better knowing about other peoples lives rather than having to look at ones own!

It's called "misery lit" in the publishing world and has been a huge growth area in the past decade. As recently as 2000 it didn't exist. Although they're all claimed to be autobiographical, several high profile examples have been shown to be complete fiction or hugely exaggerated over reality and there are significant doubts over quite a number of others. These books are predominantly sold through supermarkets, rather than bookshops, because their market is women who buy celebrity and "real life" magazines but who tend not to go into bookshops.

:lol::lol::lol:

On the original subject, it seems 'literature' [I use the term i its loosest possible way] is cyclical, I had noticed the same heavy emphasis at our local tesco store, but a year ago you couldn't move for more normal autobiographies of 3rd rate famous for 5 minutes 'celebs' :bonk:

to add to the list of misery lit, a LOT of the fiction is of the same ilk and seems to have rapidly taken over from the usual tonnage of easy reading chic-lit that was shelf filling a year ago.

Does this mean we should brace ourselves for hoardes of premenstrual wummin roaming our streets armed to the teeth with knives?

Or am I just thinking of an average Saturday night in Glasgow? :lol:
