what does this error message mean?

adobe bridge has raised the following error message when i started my machine today - bridge is unable to read the cache, please try purging the central cache in cache preferences to correct the situation.

Has it made any difference (i.e. any error messages) after you purged the cache?

seriously though, could just be a corrupt/malformed/out of disk space cache file.

try under the edit menu, adobe usually hide preferences there.

Under Mac OS, to purge the cache (in bridge) go to 'tools-cache-purge cache' or 'preferences-cache-purge cache'
I'm assuming it will be something similar in Windows
