do you use a camera bag or a man bag?

just ive always used a man bag, but of noticed recently as i have no lens caps or back covers (i always lose them) so im getting dust dirt and scratches on my lens's as they clank about. as well as grease and all sorts. so is there like a pro bag u can buy ideally under £20?

i using a Lowepro Passport Sling bag, it can carry one DSLR and one lens, bought from eBay costs £16:)

Usually my hands and pockets. I rarely take out a camera bag/rucksack these days. I just load up everything I think I'm gonna need about my person and head off. I do have spare batteries, lens caps etc strategically strewn about my car should I need em:)

If I'm carrying cameras, I use a camera bag. Why would I use a man bag? If you don't want it to look like a camera bag there are plenty of camera bags that look enough like man bags if you're bothered about such things, but they'll be designed to protect your gear properly.

I've never understood the concept of manbags and certainly would not ever have one. Christ, I was about 40 before I even got a wallet.

yeah, i never look after owt i own, but i decided im going to ( im on my second kindle, and my ipad would be destroyed by now if it didnt have its case but ive decied i am going to look after my stuff better, as its really expensive to replace stuff. i like the over shoulder bag. and yeah i want something descrete, as blackpool isnt the safest places. i know people that have been held up at knife point in town, and our studio is next to a drug addict rehabilitation area, and nestled near two gay swinging hotels, and next to the red light district in north shore so i just want something that doesnt scream mug me.

man bags, are like a handbag, but for men

Yeh, I know what they are but have never understood why a man should want to carry a handbag.

i really like the idea of those sling bags never heard of them before

i use my manbag, all the time, normally i have my camera, 2 lens's, my ipad, my kindle, my iphone, chargers, a bottle of water my money (i dont use a wallet like u dont brash) cash card, and any other stuff i might need. its useful. i can see why women use handbags. they hold tons

Just get a Think Tank Retrospective 5. Good camera bag... and people will still think you're a metrosexual. Sorted.

The thought of all of that stuff crashing around inside your bag is crazy - I can just hear the sound of metal on glass!

I'd maybe think twice about the Lowepro Sling - I've got one, it's a great bag, but you wouldn't fit your ipad etc in as well as your gear.

I must admit I am partial to a Man-Bag, despite being a very red blooded male.

I have a Billingham for my Camera gear and a Visconti for work... My Man-Bags have certainly raised a few eyebrows from fellow colleagues!

If you have a lot of money spent on Camera gear, the least you can do is buy a decent bag.

I've only ever used my camera bag for storage as I don't really like having to carry anything apart from my camera. If I'm going somewhere by car I will keep the camera in the bag till I park then leave the bag in the boot, but if I'm going somewhere by train I would never bother taking a camera bag as that would mean having to carry the bag as well as the camera.

:agree: excellent bag, carries all my Fuji gear (X-T1, 10-24, 18-55, 55-200, 35mm, and 60mm) and can even squeeze in the battery grip.

Yep.. probably the best of the "Look.. I'm not a camera bag" bags by a long way.

Still can't beat a decent camera bag that's designed to be a camera bag and to hell with how it looks though. Form over function is hardly ever a good thing in design.

All sounds a bit mincey to me but then I'm a homophobic, misogynistic, chauvinistic, racist, bigoted, knuckle trailing, trolling thug. That'll explain it then.:D

So you'd have us believe. I bet you love scatter cushions and feng shui really :)

Agree, the inserts are quite poor really, can't partition up the bag how I'd really like to and have to use soft cloth to wrap some lenses in, but hey! I like it.

i just dont like walking round wit a mug me sign on my back when ur often in a bad areaof town :)

I barely use my Retrospective 10 since getting the 5, it's a cracking little bag. Camera + lens, iPad mini and a few bits and bobs - ideal for travelling light.

my son uses the Passport Sling as a school bag now I have no use for it, they are great bags for small camera gear + shopping/pack lunch but I prefer the Manfrotto Brio 10 now as it has a tablet/netbook compartment and is better when I am on the motorbike.

general walkabout camera stuff though its the Billingham System 4 for me.

Kata mini bee, mostly. Gone so used to it hanging on one shoulder that I don't even notice the weight of it anymore. I plan ahead, sort ot, as to what I'm heading out to shoot, and pack it accordingly. No need for it to be overly heavy.

Can't take to those messenger type bags at all.

I wouldn't waste time worrying about being mugged for my gear either, if it ever happens, well, so be it. But I've been to NYC, Turkey, Spain and all over the UK with proper cam bags on shoulder, and not had any hassles yet.

If its just the DSLR + zoom lens, then its a Lowepro top-loader holster.

Anything more than that, then its a Lowepro backpack.

Man bag?, no, not my style.

Looks like you've given up the cross dressing

And cagey I know but I got followed when I was in fleetwood, on chats worth estate, by a gang of youths when I was doing some street photography in a bad part of town

It depends on where I am, and what I am carying.
#1 Casual shooting - one camera etc - a cheap satchel with an old camera bag insert in it.
#2 When I need to take a lot of stuff - Lowepro flipside 400
#3 When I need to take a fair bit of stuff and I can't put a camera bag down - like shooting in water/beach etc - A Domeke vest.
#4 When shooting classical music concerts and I need as bag to work out of - A traditional over the shoulder large camera bag.
#5 When I need to be very mobile (and a media vest needs to be seen) - A Thank Tank harness sytem loaded up for at least 4-5 hours shooting - It may include niblies and multiple water bottles.
I have far too many camera bags.

Think Tank Retrospective 20 (incl rain cover).

Sony A7
Zeiss 55mm f1.8
Zeiss 24-70mm f4 OSS
Sony 70-200mm f4 OSS
Giotto blower
Spare battery
Couple of SD cards
Couple of cleaning clothes
USB cable
Black Rapid RS Sports strap

Plenty of room left for a couple of lenses, flash gun and smaller bits.

A very good bag which will easily last a long time due to its rugged build.

Only negatives is that it is quite heavy at 1.5kgs :)
