Hi all,

Not sure if this is the right place for this thread but just wanted some feedback on my website.

I am by no means a great photographer, I’m just learning as I go but love being creative and thought I’d design myself a website.

Any comments would be great.

Well, the embedded Flash killed my browser. :(

[both Google Chrome and Safari on Mac OS X 10.6.8 with a current version of Adobe Flash]

e2a: looking at the debug info, it seems to be loading multiple instances of the same .swf files.

It's incredibly slow to load. So slow that noone will bother to wait.

It also killed my browser when I clicked on 'about'. I suggest you take this site down right away until it's fixed.
 
must be Mac thing, seems fine on my PC

Loaded and ran instantly on my Vaio laptop (W7), and we don't have the fastest broadband out here in the sticks.

I like it. Clean and classy, and I like your images too. Can I make one suggestion? Leave out the "Camera Equipment" section. It's not really relevant and your gear is very entry level - nothing wrong with that, and you're getting fine results - but it might discourage some people if they don't know it's the photographer that counts. I was a bit hesitant about making this suggestion, so please don't take it the wrong way or be offended. FWIW, mine is pretty entry level too!

No problems loading here, or crashing... running XP

Very good site, nice shots too... you build it yourself?
 
Does seem to be a problem on Mac's then it seems... wonder why that is.

No, I'm not that smart, I used a website builder :lol:
 
Took about 5 seconds to load fully here, if it's a gallery site you need to give people access to the galleries, not just the front page images. If there are other reasons why you want the rest of the site restricted to logged in only then ignore me :)
 
Well the idea was for people to join to see more pics and then I'd be able to contact them when new pics have been added... is that a bad idea? :shrug:

If you're collecting personal data, you'll have to hold and use it in compliance with the Data Protection Act.
 
I don't have the data myself the website builder I use takes care of all of that. When logging in it asks for a username, password and email. Then there is an option for me to contact everyone who has joined.

I have changed it now so everyone can view all and added a note for people to join if they want to be kept updated.

Thats seems alot better now.... also would you not watermark the photos with your name/copyright, as i just noticed you have an option to download them
 
Your site is pretty good, It's nice to see a site that isn't built by Wordpress for a change.

Couple things, on your gallery page when you click on a thumbnail it doesnt show the close box, its just a square on the top right, it would also be good if you could click on the picture and it then show you the next picture.

What would be cool is that if you had a slideshow button, I know they are temprimental. I have that problem with my site.

I read that you've changed it now, that's good, the problem with asking people to sign up to view a gallery is that they just wouldn't do it, it's too much hassle. There are so many websites and folk have so little patience that even if your images are the best in the world they still want them in 2 seconds flat or they go elsewhere. (until you become big and famous!)

The sitebuilder I use doesn't have that many options at the moment, the close box is just an empty square which is a little annoying and there isn't a next option. I have suggested these things and hope they make them availbale. They have a slideshow option which i have used on my animals and nature page, not sure its the best layout though.
 
Page title needs amending, it's currently 'HOME - LucyJ' which is bad for SEO and for anyone who bookmarks the page. HTH

Tried your site with the following browsers Firefox, Opera, Chrome and Sleipnir.

No problems with any.

Running XP on a 2.66GHz dual core PC with 2 Gig of RAM.

Site looks good.
