I'm accumulating tonnes of crap, as the missus would like to call it, and running out of places to shove it!

I have one press and a drawer that I put all my spare batteries/reflectors/empty boxes/manuals etc in ... but they're crammed and things are getting messy fast.

What do you use at home to store all of your gear nicely? Do you use a coupld of big bags, like lowepro 650s? or do you have a dedicated cabinet?

I use a Peli 1600 for all my main gear i.e. camera, lenses, flash etc and store all my chargers and cables and things in my most unused camera bag

Neil

I keep all my used gear in a Lowepro pro runner 300, various spares dotted around my room and all the bits I don't use and boxes for various lenses and cameras are stored in my parents spare room :D

My camera and most used lenses sit in my gadget bag. Other less used lens sit in there pouches with the rest of my cables, flash guns etc in a box bottom of my cupboard and all the boxes are in an old suitcase in the loft.

Peli 1620.

At the moment, a Billingham 555 shoulder bag which is a sheer waste (so its up for sale). Then I'll use a Calumet rolling case insert which fits neatly into a normal rolling case so I can drag my gear without it looking like a camera bag.

I used to use this wee cabinet thing, but it no longer copes with the amount of gear so am on the look out for something else.

Those pelican cases look the job. Pricey though! I think one of the largest dslr bags may do the trick, plus a small lockable cabinet?

A caravan!!

Well, that's not a bad idea

I've considered getting a shed for all my gear. A mini studio basically. They do some excellent ones these day with mini offices an' all. But I'd always be worried about someone breaking into it.

I store in (don't laugh) a canon deluxe bag, a lowepro flipside 400aw, kata 31, and now I am looking at a canvas bag -:)

Camers-Lenses and flashguns in peli cases 1600 and 1450. Rest of the bits and pieces in camera bags- boxes anywhere out of sight

No dehumidifier but I have Peli desiccant in all my bags. I got a Peli 1514 and 3 bags. Been looking to upgrade the Peli.
Peli 1620.
Hey bigrob are you using foam or dividers with the 1620?

I think I should be keeping an eye out for one of those! I definitely need something to start storing my gear in because its getting silly around here!

i just use the cheap hard cases for storage at home , never saw the point in spending out for peli if the case stays at home .
then for carrying around various soft bags
i dont know if they still do them but jessops used to sell there own brand cheap hard cases that are great for home use,im sure there's similar available on ebay

i use a vanguard skybourne 53 which is now full to the brim to keep all my photography stuff together with all the boxes/instructions in boxes in the loft...

depending on what im doing and where im going etc il either take the whole bag or use one of my smaller bags

I was looking at "Airport" roller bags tonight. I thought I could get one that would fit all my gear in at home, but also it'd be great to take on flights too. Seems to me most of the ones that claim to be carry-on friendly are beyond most airline's dimension allowances. I'll just bring my Vanguard up-rise 45 to New York, it's not failed me to date. I've never been stopped taking it on board. Even on Ryanair!! :D

It's a neat bag, small enough, but still holds more than enough for travel. I can get my camera with a 70-200 attached, a flash, 2-3 more lenses, rocket blower, black rapid strap and other bits and bobs in there. But it's not big enough for local use anymore. I'm always having to leave stuff out when I want to just go do some street and landscape. Too small for portrait shoots too if I wanted to take more than one flash plus reflectors and all my lenses. I'll have to get a bigger one. Maybe a second, bigger bag would solve my home storage too. Along with a few simple shelves?

I use my display cabinets that use to be full of pointless tat the wife's ornaments plates crockery sets etc etc now she is an x wife I have all these empty cabinet
perfic for my man toys

I've got most of the boxes under my bed or in the garage out of the way, all the camera gear in a lowepro nova 200 bag which is full to busting now and I put my studio gear (lencarta heads etc) ontop of my bookshelf and collapse the softbox which now lives under part of my desk when not in use. My studio boom breaks into two parts so the arm itself is under the end of the bed and the tripod part is in the corner of the room behind my bookshelf (can't see it, nor my proper tripod).

The girlfriend doesn't complain as her beauty products and christ knows what else take up FAR more room than my photography gear ever would, even if I had a few sigma 800mm primes laid around the place lol.

55L airtight storage box for the odds and ends, though I don't really have that much! And a vanguard daypack backpack for the carry about. All the boxes are in the storage box and so are the cables except the chargers.

My everyday stuff lives in my camera bag ( camera, lenses, batteries cards etc)

My lighting gear lives in a bowens lighting bag I bought, my car rig kit lives in a padded cheap lighting bag that I bought from eBay. Both these are in the loft and come out as required. Also I the loft is a lowepro mini trekker bag for when I want to strip down light, I.e. for long walks and my large fold down background.

Then I redesigned the office with cupboards and bookshelves on top all down one wall, so I have a large double cupboard that my main camera bag lives in, along with reflectors, and often used bits.

Dividers.

I use a Tamrac Super Pro 14 bag for all my gear as it just about all fills in, however I have a Tamrac Expedition 9x rucksack to keep the gear I'm not taking out with me safely packed away.

Anything that's not needed on a daily basis is in a box under the bed :)

Main kit lives in a Lowepro Mini Trekker. D70 basic kit (including duplicated focal lengths) lives in A LowePro Nova (?)4, extra lenses that don't get used every day, on a shelf in the cupboard. Bridge and accessories to match in its own case. Compacts in their own cases, with SanDisk neoprene cases pressed into service to hold spare card and batteries clipped to ouyside. Other accessories (flashguns, LED lights etc) live on a shelf. Film lived in the fridge.

My think tank airport bag arrives today, that'll double as my travel bag and home storage. Unless I start doing weddings next year it'll mostly be used for that purpose. I also ordered a desk with side cabinets. That will hold all the boxes and cables and bits and bobs I gather over the years :)

What can you pack in there? Good enough for about 3 bodies and 10 normal lenses plus accessories?

SL888 (what's your name by the way - don't be so shy :p)

I have just taken a couple of snapshots for you, so excuse the quality. Hopefully they will give you some sort of idea.

I'm not sure what a normal lens is, but I guess you mean not massive ones. If so then 3 bodies and 10 relatively small ones would be okay.

Looking down in to the 1620 with the top section removed.

1D4 with 300/2.8 II attached.
1D4 battery charger and AA/AAA charger.
5D3 with 24-105 attached.

Note that the Peli cases are heavy before you even put anything in them BUT once in they are well protected  & Peli's have lifetime guarantees.

Looks brill. I'd love one of those with the organizer and dividers. But yikes! on the price. £470 before delivery to Ireland with the extras.

Good idea ;)

Though I just spent €300 on a roller bag, missus might bury me in the blimmin' thing! :D
