It's shrove Tuesday today, (aka pancake day :)) for those who didnt know. Thought it might be an idea to see how much we have managed to break tradition with 'toppings'.
This also means Lent starts tonight/tomorrow I guess, so as the title suggests, I have 2 questions for you
1 - What do you have on your pancakes
2 - What are you giving up for lent (if anything?)

I am fairly traditional with pancakes, sugar and lemon juice is a winner for me. but sometimes I give in to temptation and get the chocolate spread out of the cupboard

For Lent, I'm not sure what I will give up, if anything. Though I have decided more trips to the gym would be a good idea, so might incorporate that into lent.

Anyone else care to share?

Sugar and lemon for me, nothing else really.

Not be giving up anything for lent.

spike

1: Maple syrup or lemon & sugar, haven't decided yet.
2: Doughnuts. (I should last a couple of days at a push)

Wonder when all the pics will start to appear.

Another simple lemon with a bit of sugar. I hear some sick pups put chocolate spread and stuff on them

May have one or two pancakes tonight but I shalln't be giving up anything for something I don't belive in ;)

I'm having ice cream, maple syrup and nuts (not yet sure which to get) on my pancakes later. *slurp*

I'm giving up the boozes for a month (last beer was had on Friday) just to see what happens.

Sugar & lemon on one.
Maple syrup on another.
Honey (my fav) on another.

As I'm perfect, nothing to give up! :D

On my American style pancakes I shall mostly be having maple syrup.

not doing pancakes - and won't be giving up anything for religious purposes, not being a religionist.

Though plenty of things I am giving up temporarily.......

Alcohol, Crisps, Sweets, Biscuits, Chocolate, "bung in the oven" meals,

Dulce du leche (milk jam) in this evening's pancakes and since I don't do the religion thing, I shall not be depriving myself of anything for the next 4 weeks, although I might cut down on masturbation (to twice a day!)

Just to clarify, I'm not religious. I'm participating in the same way many folk do Christmas - for the general benefits/spirit, not religious reasons. ;)

Sugar and lemon with mine, but I always sprinkle a few currants onto it before the batter sets in the pan. Lovely.

Nutella - pah! (Save that for the end of my bread when it is just cooling down)

Regards,

White.

(PS Giving up - nothing)

I'm not having any today but I have had them twice in the last week as a kind of trial run but I'm a bit sick of them now.
Golden syrup on mine lots and lots of sticky sweet golden syrup.
I will be giving up golden syrup for lent as I've used a whole tin in the last week.

I ent mad with mine in 2009 :lol::lol: this year just lemon juice and sugar

I'll be nicking the banana idea later!

Hmmm, "cored" banana filled with ice-cream & crushed nuts, drizzled with maple syrup and wrapped in pancake.... :naughty:

last year i did lemon and sugar, chili, ham egg and cheese, flake, nutella, this year not making any...made more than 100 last year.

To. Many. Pancakes.

And the banana was a banana too far.

Errm, feeling bad now. For toppings we have nutella, banana, cream, strawberry sauce, choc chips, marshmallows and strawberry cheesecake hagen daas.

Shall be giving up the diet! :)

We have savoury pancakes with chilli and sour cream, and sweet pancakes with lemon and sugar or chocolate sauce/spread and banana yummy!!

I'm pregnant so already given up alcohol and tbh pregnancy sucks so not giving up anything for lent just stuffing myself silly with pancakes because I can.

My new topping,Apple & pears through a blender with some ground spices and a touch of cocoa powder.

And just to make the missus feel sick I put some red food dye (that I have been using for some "drop" shots) into the pancake mixture.

Pregnancy doesn't suck, it wonderful, I always found my wife even more sexy when she was pregnant.

As to the op, no pancakes tonight, stuck in a hotel again, so guess I will make some at the weekend,.I am sure the kids will not complain if they have to have them again.

toppings lemon and sugar, maple syrup and nutella.

lent, nope not nothing.

Golden syrup on mine, possibly a bit too much as I'm feeling sick now.

Can't see me giving anything up, I have no will power.

Marmite! As for giving anything up, I told the boss I am giving up work for the next few weeks on religious grounds :D

Trust me, when you suffer with Hyperemesis and end up in hospital then on meds for the duration - it sucks! I should know I've done it twice!

Since I was out on site on Tuesday I had Pancakes w/Sausage and maple syrup. Eat the sausage first then pour the syrup over the pancakes of course!

For lent. I am giving up coffee and buying unnecessary things. I drink 20 cups a day (at least) and sometimes buy the dumbest of things. So far, I'm doing well, drinking a lot of water instead. Wed-Fri was in bed by 9:30 and waking at 7:40am, felt so drained but to be fair the past two months I've had no energy or motivation anyway. Everyone thinks I'm gonna fail and by myself probably would but Matt 19:26 says it best. :)

So, how is everyone holding up?

It's been just over 3 weeks since my last beer (and cigarette, as I only ever smoked with a beer) and it feels good. It's not been easy with the 6 nations and all but I've just about managed to keep on track.

I won't be smoking again but am looking forward to a beer in a couple of weeks, o yes. :)

I had my first pint this weekend having not drunk since new year. Honestly, I didn't enjoy it half as much as I expected and won't be in any rush to have another!
